One afternoon, Theresa would find she had a video call request on her computer.

Theresa looked at the request, thought for a moment, and then clicked the 'Decline' button.

It was followed by an instant message.

<BOHara> Look, I couldn't keep track of even half of what was going on that night.

<CelticWeatherGirl> You bailed on me!

<BOHara> I heard a thunderstorm! I thought you wanted to be left alone!

<CelticWeatherGirl> At the party! I really don't give a damn about what you did after that.

<BOHara> I don't know, was I even doing much good with you and Colin? It's not like I could hang out the whole time without being a third wheel, right?

[Theresa McMasters]

<CelticWeatherGirl> Well, I guess we'll never know, will we?

<BOHara> Look, I'm sorry, okay? He seemed pretty interested at least, right?

[Theresa McMasters]

<CelticWeatherGirl> Kind of hard to tell since he ended up walking out with another girl.

<BOHara> Kay was choking. I think he just wanted to make sure she was okay!

<CelticWeatherGirl> Whatever. Not like it'll matter now anyway.

<BOHara> Oh come on, it was one night!

[Theresa McMasters]

<CelticWeatherGirl has logged off.>

Brigid just stared at the screen for a good few minutes.

"...dammit," she muttered.

[Theresa McMasters]

Sometime later, Theresa's Facebook page looked like the following:

Theresa removed "Attending Xavier's Institute for the Gifted" from her profile.

Theresa has captured all the Thunderstones in Thunderstone 2 Advanced!

Theresa just played "ANGER" in Words with Friends 5!

She had probably rebooted her machine at some point though because she seemed to have forgotten Skype's auto-launch so she was online.

...worst she can do is just shoot me down again, right?

Brigid sent another request.

[Theresa McMasters]

There was a pause before a video window appeared. Theresa was obviously sitting on her bed with a headset on. Her arms were crossed. "What?" Brigid could see something on the wall that might possibly be a scorch mark.

[Brigid Plunder]

From her end, Brigid was in a room that looked a little odd. At least one wall was curved, along the side that had a window. From the window, it was definitely someplace sunny.

Brigid was dressed rather similarly to how she had been during orientation. She waved sheepishly.

"I... ah... figured it was worth a try?"

[Theresa McMasters]

"So that's all?" Theresa raised an eyebrow and the cross of her arms got tighter.

[Brigid Plunder]

"I don't want to fight with you, Theresa. I just... I'm lousy at this."

[Theresa McMasters]

"No argument from me on that," she said. "Otherwise you wouldn't have bailed on me when you did."

[Brigid Plunder]

"I really don't have many friends back home here," she sighed.

"And suddenly this weekend I'm making so many and... it got a little nuts."

"But I don't want to lose any either, especially you. I'm sorry, Theresa."

[Theresa McMasters]

Theresa seemed to consider that for a long moment, the silence significant as she regarded the screen. "I suppose I should forgive you," she finally said.

[Brigid Plunder]

"You don't... have to, really. It's just frustrating. I feel so clueless about this stuff."

[Theresa McMasters]

"Well forgiveness is a virtue right? I'm kind of short on those, so I should probably start somewhere."

[Brigid Plunder]

"Besides, we can totally talk about Colin now that nobody else is around, right?"

[Theresa McMasters]

"I'd rather not. He probably is more interested in Kay anyway, no sense fighting that fight."

[Brigid Plunder]

"Okay, can I point out something here? Just one thing? Literally nobody I met this weekend thinks they're attractive, or that people are interested in them."

"And from talking to me, I'm sure you could tell I wasn't really an exception."

[Theresa McMasters]

"I didn't say I wasn't attractive." The arms crossed again. "I just imagine he's probably going to identify better with someone with a physical mutation. I can't compete on that."

[Brigid Plunder]

"He... er... kind of seemed interested in talking to all the girls. I mean, he didn't look not into you."

[Theresa McMasters]

"Not helping," she pointed out.

[Brigid Plunder]

"Okay, okay, moving o--"

"Brigid, are you still sulking in there? It's a wonderful day out!" It was a young man's voice.

"I'm talking to someone!" She spat, her head turning somewhere off-camera.

"Oh, like you ever talk to people!" There was a sound of a doorknob turning.

[Theresa McMasters]

"Is that your brother?"

[Brigid Plunder]

"Yeah, he's being a..."

She trailed off, staring in the direction of the door.

"...no. Just no, Matt."

"What, I can't meet your friends now?"

[Theresa McMasters]

Theresa just waited quietly to see how this played out.

[Brigid Plunder]

"I mean you can't meet them dressed like that," she said as she flushed with embarrassment.

"What's wrong with dressing like this? Mom and Dad dress like this. You dress like this, or you used to..."

Brigid buried her face in her hands as a young man with long blonde hair walked into the shot, wearing nothing but a leather loincloth. He was well-built, and well-tanned, much like his sister.

[Theresa McMasters]

Theresa blinked for a minute and then smiled, "Nice loincloth."
