"Numerous large commercial farms in northern France have reported that their wheat crop has been stricken by a fast-acting blight. This pathogen, which has killed whole fields of the grain, is also reported to be able to spread quickly from one plant to the next, according to local farmer Yves Leveque.
'I have never seen anything like this. Our entire crop has been eradicated.'
As the blight continues to crop up throughout the region, The French Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development, Transport and Housing has assured those affected that it will work quickly to find the cause of the infestation and bring it to an end.
