Sam & Nailah's - I Was Born Sick

"She didn't turn him down either," Miranda said, but she shrugged, "Like I said, I'm trying really hard not to judge."

[Nailah Weaver]

"He's trying to find his own ways to honor a goddess who lives next door." Nailah says from where she's leaning against the doorframe. She can't have been there for too long. "I don't think he should do it, least of all for me, but he gets disappointed when we turn him down. And his wife and daughter just moved to Muir for at least a couple of months so he's been looking for excuses to be around. But if this is really important to you I would rather slight him than you. I hope you know that..."

"It's also taken him ages to get past the idea that his shapeshifting makes those around him uncomfortable. In that respect, we've indulged him a bit so he won't feel self-conscious for having offered."

[Miranda Weaver]

"I'm really not suitable to judge another on how they serve their goddess," Miranda repeats, "Especially not after..." She sighs and goes back to her position at the other end of the couch. As she does so, her wings ruffle out a bit, showing that there are a small scattering of feathers of various rainbow colors 'hiding' among the black feathers. "And I suppose you're as close to a priestess as Mum has at the moment."

Nailah can't help but smile slightly at the sight of that but doesn't say anything. "I'm really not, though how to place myself in all this is not an easy question." she admits. "But I do know that mutants face much hardship and more often than not that means we have to fight. To defend ourselves and those around us. I don't believe in a Morrigan who strides into battle drenched in blood but I do believe there is a place for making a more... noble stand. Not every battle has to be for conquest and end in bloodshed nor should it be."

"Some things are hard to shake from their roots though. That's something I'm learning."

[Samantha McManus]

"You won't ever lose me to that, Miranda."

[Miranda Weaver]

"Promise?"

[Samantha McManus]

"Promise. I couldn't do that after learning what being a mum is like."

[Miranda Weaver]

"I would have imagined that might have pushed you towards death and destruction," she said with a small smile.

[Nailah Weaver]

Nailah chuckles. "There's a certain truth in that, but I found that these things often end up exaggerated and vilified when they couldn't be domesticated."

"I assure you, I'm house-trained."

[Miranda Weaver]

"I don't think I want to hear more about that," Miranda said with a small chuckle.

[Samantha McManus]

"Oh aye, your mum's weird. I think that one's a constant for teenagers no matter who your mum is."

[Miranda Weaver]

"We're all strange here. Some of us more than others, but we're all strange."

[Nailah Weaver]

"No argument from me on that." she chuckles.

[Miranda Weaver]

"So she thinks I should spend more time training with you, Mom. So you can blame her."

[Nailah Weaver]

"That's probably a good idea. You've been doing alright, but if you're getting intrusive visions then we need to get a handle on that. I know how bad that can get." she smiles softly.

[Miranda Weaver]

"It... it was pretty bad," she agreed.

[Nailah Weaver]

She nods. "I would lie to you if I told you that you can learn to avoid those entirely but maybe I can show you how to see their alternatives. There's almost always a fork in the road that leads the opposite way, you just have to find it."

[Miranda Weaver]

"I didn't see the road leading to this, but I knew the road was there and that scared me."

[Samantha McManus]

"And I can encourage her, but you're the one that can actually show her how."

[Nailah Weaver]

"Believe me, I understand. Sometimes you just want to shut your eyes and pretend it's not there. When I was your age I fought tooth and nail against most of my visions, no matter what they showed me, I wanted something else, something I had control over."

[Miranda Weaver]

She took a deep breath. "This time the Seer tried to leave and tried to lock away the vision in the Astral. She... she didn't intend to come back."

"The Seer's certainly the headstrong one, in there."

[Nailah Weaver]

"But she did and that's what counts."

[Miranda Weaver]

"Only because the Archivist went and got Will and... Goddess, I don't know exactly how to explain what happened."
