Sam & Nailah's - Sep 17 - Dinner For Four

[Miranda Weaver]

Leaving a plate of dinner with Victoria as a thank you, Miranda ferried the rest of the food upstairs, getting the table set for dinner.

[Kay Haddock]

Kay is right behind her, helping to carry the prepared food and trying not to be too nervous about dinner with the headmistress.

[Miranda Weaver]

"Everything seems to have turned out well," Miranda said, trying to help Kay relax.

[Samantha McManus]

"This looks to be shaping up quite nicely," Samantha says, looking over the setting of the table.

[Miranda Weaver]

"Thank you. Victoria helped with the sauce, but the rest is all us. Right, Kay?"

[Kay Haddock]

"Y-yeah. Hi, Miss McManus." she squeaks out.

[Samantha McManus]

"Calm down, Kay. It looks like a lovely meal."

[Miranda Weaver]

"It just seemed like you guys could use dinner tonight. Seemed like things were extra busy around here today."

[Kay Haddock]

"Thanks... I just helped some, Miranda and Vickie did most of the work."

[Samantha McManus]

"It's appreciated. After all we had to deal with today, I'm afraid it was going to be leftovers."

[Miranda Weaver]

"Hopefully nothing bad," Miranda said, getting the glasses and pouring drinks.

[Samantha McManus]

"I think we've gotten things largely under control. Your mother ought to be back shortly."

"If nothing else, the smell ought to lure her."

[Miranda Weaver]

"With Kay and you involved, she might actually get a premonition about dinner," Miranda said with a chuckle.

[Samantha McManus]

"I doubt she's going to show up with takeout Chinese tucked under her arm, at the least."

[Miranda Weaver]

"Yeah. That'd be a waste of takeout Chinese. There's also ice cream for dessert."

[Nailah Weaver]

"It smells delicious in here." comes Nailah's voice from the hallway, followed by the door closing.

[Miranda Weaver]

"Dinner's ready, Mom," Miranda said, putting the final touches on things. "And now that you're here we can start."

[Samantha McManus]

"Miranda and Kay decided to make us a lovely meal."

[Nailah Weaver]

"Oh? Thanks, you two." she smiles as she walks into the room.

[Kay Haddock]

Kay just grins awkwardly.

[Miranda Weaver]

Miranda gave Kay a 'told you it'd be fine' look. "You're welcome. Hopefully everything turned out okay," she said.

[Samantha McManus]

"Seems like we're ready to eat, aye?"

[Miranda Weaver]

"Yeah, let's eat while it's still hot," she said, pulling out Kay's chair for her.

[Kay Haddock]

"Thankies!" Kay smiles at Miranda and sits down.

[Nailah Weaver]

Nailah suppresses a chuckle and smiles at the two as she sits down herself.

[Miranda Weaver]

"So were you looking into the monster wolf in the woods, Mom? The buzz was all over the mansion today."

[Nailah Weaver]

"You can't keep anything here under wraps, can you?" she chuckles faintly. "Yes, we're looking into it. Officially it was a power incident and I suppose technically that's correct."

[Miranda Weaver]

"The rumors have ranged from giant wolf to giant bear to some sort of wind creature that could somehow bite arms off. It's been a strange day."

[Samantha McManus]

"You needn't worry, though. It's been handled."

[Miranda Weaver]

"More curious than worried, but it's good to know it's not a problem."

[Nailah Weaver]

"At this rate it might have been simpler just to tell everyone that it was a big wolf. Certainly seems less outlandish than some of those stories."

[Samantha McManus]

"Aye, it's certainly true."

[Miranda Weaver]

"The speed of rumor is only somewhat exceeded by the speed of light, but I'll be sure to tell people it was just a big wolf."

[Kay Haddock]

"Must have been some wolf if it gave Miss Kaltiera trouble."

[Miranda Weaver]

"Who said it gave her trouble?"

[Kay Haddock]

"I dunno. Somebody." Apparently one bit of gossip being wrong doesn't imply to Kay that it all might be bollocks.

[Miranda Weaver]

"Interesting. I wouldn't have thought a wolf would have given her problems. Unless maybe it was swearing."

[Nailah Weaver]

Nailah gives her daughter bit of a look that at least trying to be stern.
