I1DT - What Sober Wouldn't Say

[Allison Rogers]

The smell of steak wafted through Allison's apartment as she cooked dinner in the little kitchen the apartment afforded her. She eyed the pieces of meat critically, then reached for the beer sitting next to the sink and took a slug out of it.

"Something smells delicious," Dee says as she comes into the apartment.

[Allison Rogers]

"Steak. Not the same as grilling, but the grill pan will have to do," she said with a slight hint of intoxication. "Saw you take the jet out today. Mission or just kicking the tires?"

[Deirdre Quinn]

"Student wants to learn to fly it. Figured I'd show her what it could do."

"...have you been drinking?"

[Allison Rogers]

"Maybe a bit," she said with a shrug, her eyes going golden and the intoxication disappearing.

[Deirdre Quinn]

"Something wrong, then?"

[Allison Rogers]

"Yes and no. Our resident low life never made it to proper prison," Allison said, "because someone killed him in transit."

[Deirdre Quinn]

"So we're thinking he offended someone less gentle than us?"

[Allison Rogers]

"The contact from the police didn't give me a lot of details. But yeah, I guess. So it's good, but I can't help but worry, you know?"

[Deirdre Quinn]

"Because the question is who, eh?"

[Allison Rogers]

She nodded, her eyes returning back to normal. She took another drink from her beer, "And if he said something to them about us."

[Deirdre Quinn]

"No guarantee they'd even give us a second thought, but it's hard not to consider."

[Allison Rogers]

"So I guess just keep an eye out. It's probably nothing, but you never know."

[Deirdre Quinn]

"Wouldn't be a date if someone wasn't trying to shoot us," she smirks, trying to lighten the mood.

[Allison Rogers]

"True," she chuckled. "At least I'm not the only one with minions now."

[Deirdre Quinn]

"I already had the better workspace."

[Allison Rogers]

"And the better toys. It was just a matter of time, really."

[Deirdre Quinn]

"Is this a hint that you want me to work on your bike again?"

[Allison Rogers]

"Well, we had discussed a bike that could accomodate my larger frame. You up for a project?"

[Deirdre Quinn]

"If only to see the looks on people's faces when they see you riding it."

[Allison Rogers]

"I figure we'll have to fabricate the frame from scratch and figure out how to fill it out suitably, but it should be fun."

[Deirdre Quinn]

"I'm guessing you'll want something more in the style of your baby, rather than a crotch rocket."

[Allison Rogers]

"It's up for debate. Depends on what format works best. I make fun of crotch rockets mostly because of their riders."

[Deirdre Quinn]

"I can build a remarkably street legal replica of a Harley, scaled up. Or style it after a vintage Vincent, if you wanted something more British."

[Allison Rogers]

"Either sounds interesting, but what do you think? Since it should probably be a double seater," she said, grinning at Dee.

[Deirdre Quinn]

"I'd go with the Vincent. Pure style."

"Mind you, I don't do upholstering. You'd have to find someone to make the seat."

[Allison Rogers]

"I have a few contacts. I figure that can wait until we see the measurements on the frame."

[Deirdre Quinn]

"Naturally. Just something to think about. I can do wonders with synthetic materials, but this likely deserves leather."

[Allison Rogers]

"I could see taking it on a mission or two, so it probably needs to be even a bit stouter than just supporting the weight. It's definitely going to be a challenge."

[Deirdre Quinn]

Dee snorts. "You didn't tell me the thing needed to be bulletproof."

[Allison Rogers]

"Well, it's a good thing we're talking about this before construction begins isn't it?" She grinned.

[Deirdre Quinn]

"It's not a dealbreaker. If anything, it makes the project a bit more interesting."

[Allison Rogers]

"And I wouldn't want to put a boring project in front of you. I bore you enough on my own without creating something special to bore you," she teased.

"I'll just warn you, if you want me to arm it then it won't be street-legal anymore."

[Allison Rogers]

"The only guns it needs will be holding onto the handlebars," she said with a smirk.
