An increasingly alarmed look was spreading on her face as she stared at the glass. She'd drank it. She'd been drinking it.

The lights suddenly dim, flicker, and go out. The smell returns and within a quarter of a second the room fills again with dim light. The bar is now worn and cracked, and the shelved bottles are broken and dripping.

Nailah lets out a loud shriek, not having experienced a shift of this magnitude. Enough for her to not really notice that she's holding on to the next best thing, which turns out to be Sam's arm.
