Meet me in the valley

Sometime after escaping what was surely a layer of Hell, Steve was seated on the floor in a corner of the large billiard room that had become the game room. He had a fire poker in his grip, taken from the game room's fireplace.

Making her way over from the elevator in the hallway Nailah spots Steve and looks relieved.

"I'm sorry we were gone so long."

He looked incredibly relieved himself, if more depressed than than they had ever seen him. They could tell he had cried more.

"It's... okay... just... don't leave me alone again..."

When he raised his face, they could just make out a tiny bump moving under the lower eyelid of his right eye.

He pulled down his bottom eyelid as best he could in his panic, hoping desperately that the whatever it was would just leave.

A small blood red fly... if that's even what it is... wriggles out into view, its far too numerous legs scrabbling for purchase on the wet inside of his eyelid.

That was too much. She's not sure what makes this so much worse than the ballroom but this she just can't handle. She scrambles backwards away from Steve, falls down and keeps pushing herself away, heaving and trying not to throw up.

The horrible insectoid crawls out, a maggoty thorax trailing behind it as it takes flight. Then it simply winks out of existence along with the growing odor of that other place.
