Quick Overview - Read This First

What is this place?
- We're a play-by-post freeform Roleplaying game set in the Marvel Universe.
- We use mainly Original Characters though canon chars do exist and show up occasionally, particularly villains. They're generally NPCs though.
- Set in the United Kingdom to put some distance between us and the usual canon setting. The time in current with a bit of the usual "5 Minutes in the future" as far as some technologies go
- Due to the fact that the game tends to run a little slower than real time we're on bit of a sliding timescale and no particular year is given.
- Dates will be pointed out on the site banner and advancing the time-frame will be announced in OOC.


Account and Character Creation
- Your account name should be the name of your character. FirstName LastName or possibly their Codename if that's how they prefer to be called.
- Because we get about a hundred spam bots making accounts every day accounts have to be manually verified by a mod. To get into contact with us and let us know you want an account activated just hop into our IRC channel by clicking here. (Or if Magicstar is having issues try clicking here.)
- Most people use one of their character accounts as the one to post in OOC, there's no need to create an account just for that.
- Keep it reasonable. That means no canon characters (or siblings, children, spouses of canon chars), no omnipotent supermen and try to keep the powers somewhat thematic to each other. For instance, telepathy often comes along with telekinesis or super strength with toughness.
- The focus is mutants but the occasional non-mutant might be approved on a case-by-case basis, expect a bit more scrutiny on the application if you chose to go this route.
- Don't go overboard with the number of powers or tragic back-stories. Some drama and pathos is good, just keep it within reason.

Rules and General Conduct
- Don't be an asshole. We're all here to have fun so try to play nice.
- In case of OOC conflict mods will try to mediate and solve the issue
- Don't god-mod (aka taking too much liberty with narrating other peoples' characters without permission, especially in fight scenes)
- IC is not OOC, try not to let in-character drama and tension leak out into out of character interactions.
- Try to use decent grammar and spelling. No one needs to be a writer or should feel like they need to fulfill a certain quality to post here but make it readable.
- Please date your threads. It helps put threads in relation to each other and create bit more of a coherent larger picture.
- That said, characters can be in more than one thread at a time, given that they don't take place at the same IC time. Sometimes that can be a bit unclear or it plays out that something significant happens in a thread that chronologically predates another and if this happens our approach tends to be "Handwave it and try to ignore it." Rarely does this lead to significant problems, but if you feel something has gone completely bonkers and all the people in a thread agree you can ask a mod to delete it. This is a last resort and generally everything you post happens.
- We have a system in place that allows everybody to change any post to show as any character (the little ? button in the top right of each post) in order to make handling several characters easier. This works on the honor system so please don't abuse this.

Setting at a Glance
- The setting is inspired by comic and movie canon but ultimately our own.
- When in doubt about a canon event feel free to ask.
- The Mutant Registration Act is currently in place in the US.
- Xavier's Institute in New York is currently closed, at least officially
- Genosha exists as an island nation of mutants, although the island suffered a recent attack that they are still recovering from.
- The Phoenix Force currently takes the shape of a young Spanish Woman named Altamira Vasquez
- We keep it somewhat ambiguous just how "divine" and supernatural the various gods and pantheons are. That's intentional and you'll find characters having wildly different opinions on this. The official word is that there's no definitive answer. Belasco's Limbo might literally be Hell or it might "just" be a pocket dimension full of demon-like creatures.
- The Astral is a plane of existence where the global consciousness takes shape. It's very metaphorical in nature and serves as a bridge to the supernatural. It can theoretically be accessed by anybody with telepathic or mystic abilities.
