"Would you want to be turned into how other people see you? Be puzzled together according to the memories, dreams and hopes and expectations that others have of you? You think you'd have the restraint to not try and make her what you think would be 'better'? What if we can't do it at all, do we instead make her easier to handle? Maybe twist her internal world around to at least make it nicer? Or drag her to the surface kicking and screaming? I know what it looks inside her head, I don't need a refresher to tempt me into trying to patch the holes with my own projections." she says, pushing herself off the door frame and stepping in Miranda's way.

Miranda's face took on a strange combination of hurt and angry, "If you think I'd do that to her, then I don't know what else to say to you."

Miranda took a deep breath and spoke slowly and carefully, "I just think, that for the first time since the catastrophe, we may have the tools here to make better sense of what's going on in her head. I don't know that we can fix it, but the understanding alone could help us care for her better. Brigid's arrival is triggering something. Her mind is changing. I'm not positive the things I've been using to help her will even continue to work."

Jennifer's lips are pressed into a thin line. She looks like she's about to say something nasty when instead her expression mellows a bit. Apparently she has settled on actually thinking about it and not just storming off. "I do wish we could help her. If anybody needs me I'll be on the roof." she says, turning around and heading for the door.

"No..." Theresa said, holding out her arm. There was a straight strip of angry red on it, looking like a sunburn almost, but way too regular.

"Hang on, let me get a first aid kit." she says before doing just that. Rummaging through it she finds something to put on burns and carefully starts treating Theresa's arm. "Does it hurt badly?"

"Here." she says, picking up the piece of fruit that fell to the floor and puts it into Theresa's hand. "Gotta make sure Mister Monkey gets enough food, right?" she forces a smile.

"Yeah," she said, looking around for the monkey and then holding out the food for him, leaving her other arm free for Jennifer to attend to. The burn doesn't appear to be getting worse.

Jennifer finishes putting some burn salve on Theresa's arm and quickly bandages it up while she is distracted by the monkey.

"There we go. Everything's just fine." she says cheerfully while she looks around the room, trying to figure out how this might have happened.

They'd done a pretty good job of making sure Theresa's room didn't have anything she could hurt herself on or with, so there really wasn't anything visible that could have burned her. She continued petting the monkey, "Thanks, Jennifer."

"Yes," she said, seeming distant. She stood up, turning as she looked at the room as if trying to find something. When she looked back at Jennifer, her eyes were glowing green. "It hurts... Pain."

"Shh, hey, it's alright, we'll fix it. We'll figure out what is hurting you and we'll fix it, okay?" she says, putting a hand on Theresa's shoulder in an attempt to calm her a little. "Can you tell me what's missing? Or where?"
