And so our intrepid dragon warrior simply dropped his club on top of his attacker, intending to pin his double under it with its impossible weight.

GemmaIggy stumbled slightly, as you do when four people's worth of weight jumps onto you from behind. She started thrashing with her tail, trying to use it to keep others from approaching from that direction. Her head twisted on her neck and she sprayed a gout of flame across portions of her back, unable to quite scratch that itch in the middle.

It worked! "John" was unable to move under the weight of the club. Hurray for John!

it also got the attention of about 10 other dudes, standing up and surrounding him. Boo for John!

The site of her old friends screaming and burning may not be the most pleasant thing in the world, but at least people were keeping their distance from her, now. Their eyes darted back and forth, as if they were trying to come up with a new strategy.

Jennifer scrambles to her feet and tries to make a break for the door, throwing up a forcefield to keep Nightcrawler (and possibly other people) off her back.

John grinned as he unsheathed his shiny new broadsword. He took a battle stance.

"Get to whomever is doing this! I'll hold them off!"

Trev ran after Jen but was cut off by her force field. He mumbled a curse but then looked at the entire cafeteria full of potential resistance, nodded grimly and stood next to John. "If you see me take a deep breath, you may want to cover your ears..."

The forcefield was effective!

However, what it was MOSTLY effective at was getting a room full of high-school students stuffed with ice cream to turn on Trev and John.

Once Jennifer has cleared the door the forcefield drops again as she runs out of range and down the hallway, looking to make her way towards the source of the strange mental impression.

They did, indeed, keep their distance, but it seemed like they weren't just going to let them walk out.

Jen darted through the doors of the cafeteria into the mansion proper, and up the stairs, past many startled students.

It seemed, however, that around every corner, SOMETHING was there. She'd find herself having to hurtle ottomans, or with doors slammed right in her face, or with holes suddenly appearing in the floor in front of her. Still, she made her way through rooms, getting the general feeling that the source of the thing in question was both up and over--perhaps that meant in the next building over, which would be Dower House, or perhaps that just meant it was deeper in the second floor in the XI dorms.

"What the fuck is wrong with this place?" she shouts at no one in particular after having to dodge yet another random piece of furniture. She looks around briefly and decides to double back towards the stairs, sticking close to the railing in case the steps decide to disappear on her or something.

Was Jennifer psychic?

Bad question.

Halfway up the stairs, they DO indeed flatten out into a very, VERY slick ramp.

It still makes Jennifer stumble and she barely manages to hang on to the railing, trying to find some purchase on the smooth surface. At least enough to allow her to slowly pull herself up along the railing.

Jen holds out her palms towards them and creates a force-field in front of herself to slam into them with the momentum of her slide.

Bowling for medics, apparently, is the hot new game at Xaviers, and Jen was really good at it. She knocked the three entirely off their feet.

Trev had assumed this would happen. He took as deep a breath as he could muster, braced himself and unleashed a scream, turning his head in an arc to sweep across the crowd, and hopefully push them back and bowl them over.

Trev's scream sent people scatering and flying up. The poor souls who were then caught in John's icy breath froze solid in mid-air, and fell to the ground, shattering into thousands of pieces.

((Because this keeps stalling, and I'm embarrassed to have held up the entire X-World thing for so long, I"m going to skip to the end))

Once regrouped, the team would find themselves climbing to the second floor of the Dower House, where the signals Jennifer was getting were originating.

The doorway that led to what had been Samantha and Nailah's old room was closed, and around it, runes seemed to have been painted. The wall across from it, where the Stanton apartment should have been, was blank.

The wall was strangely resilient, but it eventually went down.

There were no lights on in the apartment, and everything was mostly smashed and broken. Unlike the rest of the campus, which looked in decent nick, this room was still damaged. Furniture splintered and lay in ruins on the floor, and there was a fairly strong odor of mold, mildew and decay, alleviated some by the window, which was shattered.

Will sat there, on what remained of a rocking chair, looking out over the campus below. From up here, you could see the thorny hedge wrapped around the edge of the campus borders, or at least the part closest to Dower House.
