"Yeah it's a... very fulfilling career path. You'll be in corporate in no time with your smarts."

"YOUR... SMART..." the creature says, turning to Kara since she's making a compelling case.

"Yeah, yeah. Just follow him. Don't worry, I got your back." she says, pointing at Will since they're much closer to that end of the street.

Sadly, the creature seems to be looking more at the motion of Kara's hand than where she's pointing.

It holds up its own massive, rocky hand and mimics her motion.

Kara blinks, then decides to try turning around and slowly walking away, trying to make the thing do the same in the other direction.

The creature goes to follow her, in large, exaggerated steps.

Like a toddler's idea of sneaking.

When she notices the thing following her she walks a slow, careful curve to turn around without having to walk right past the thing. Her face turns into an apologetic cringe when she looks at Will and heads towards him.

The creature turns as she goes around, still focused on her.

Ultimately it mirrors the apologetic cringe to Will.

"It's all OK, we're all good here, right? We're all good. Let's come on now, getthearmoredtransportvanready, step out of the alley, and we're all happy and good here."

Nick caught what Will said.

"On it," he radioed.

He flew back to the barricades and Agent Greaves.

"I assume you brought a containment vehicle, yeah?"

"Warded and ready," Agent Greaves says.

"No luck herding the damn thing into it, though."

Meanwhile, the creature takes another couple steps towards Kara and Will.

"GUHD. HEEEEERE..."

"That's it, that's a good mindless drone. Come on, we'll have you serving up fries in no time." Kara says, continuing to lead the thing down the road.

"We're coming out. We're going to get some coffee, and maybe a cheeseburger."

"It's that big armored thing over there," Agent Greaves says, gesturing to a truck with one end up against a gap in the barricades.

The creature continues to follow Will out, but then it seems to spot the barricades and who's waiting behind them.

"CHEESE... BURGER?"

It looks about in confusion, increasingly agitated, something vaguely coming up in its primitive memory but not quite connecting.

Sadly, this doesn't seem to calm the creature down.

"NO CHEESEBURGER NO!"

Then, a blast emits from the hole where its face should be, knocking over some of the barricades.

And that was about when the creature let loose with a concussive blast from its face, aimed at Will.

"Damnit!" Nick swore, taking off for the action. Immediately he flung a barricade at the creature.

"Shit!" Kara jumps back a little while both her ribbons spring out from her wrists where they'd been waiting like coiled springs, aimed to slam into the creature's shoulder to possibly knock it over.

The creature stumbled back as Nick hit it with a barricade, the beam from its face sputtering and ceasing for the moment. Thus off-balance, Kara manages to yank on it, resulting in it landing on its rear, cracking the pavement.

The creature is struggling to get up just as Kara hits it, knocking it prone. Cracks spiderweb across the pavement around it at the impact. Flailing, it begins firing beams from its face wildly.

Nick focused and created a telekinetic shield in front of the creature's face to hopefully absorb the beams or at least weaken them while he thought of a less taxing solution.

It's possible, though it's not easy. Each blast kicks at Nick's shield with the force of a beanbag shotgun.

Will charged in, shifting his hands into a comically oversized mallet to smash against the creature's head.
