September 6th - First night on the town

Ryan opened the door to the car and stepped out, holding his hand out to help Veronica out of it. Even though he generally didn't feel the London cold, tonight he had some light gloves on with his outfit, quite possibly for situations like this. "I haven't been here yet," he admitted, "But I've heard it's supposed to be good. I hope you like it."

Veronica accepted Ryan's hand and slid out of the car with a smile. "Sank you. I'm sure eet will not be so bad. Besides, zee company is what matters, non?" She says, using his own words he used before.

"Oh, the food should be great. As long as I haven't gone and picked some kind of food that you just don't like," he said with a grin. He told the driver how long they'd probably be, made sure he had the number to text for a pickup, and then turned back to the restaurant with her.

"As long as dinner isn't going to be a large chocolate cake wis chocolate icing and excessive amounts off fudge, zen I sink you are in zee clear." She says, laughing. Glancing around the area, she adjusts her jacket a bit. "Seems safer zen zee Fiddler's Green." She says offhandedly.

He chuckled. "I'm not going to take you to a shady part of town," he said. "I give you a no-mugging guarantee tonight." He held the door open for her, unconsciously sweeping his eyes up and down the street. It'd BETTER be a mugging free night...

Ryan gave her an amused half-glare. "See, you say something like that and it makes me wonder if you'll get to see me going all out," he countered, bit convincingly at all.

"I guess we will just haf to wait and see zen." Veronica answers with a wink. Turning to the hostess for a few moments, she then turns back to Ryan. "Table or boos?"

"Table," he said automatically. Silently, he reminded himself to relax. So, smiling, he pulled out a seat for her at the table, taking the seat next to her with his back to the door one she'd sat down.

"Table eet is." She relays that to the hostess and once they get to the table and he pulls out her chair, she smiles softly. "Sank you." Taking a seat, she slips her jacket off her shoulders to hang on the back of the chair. Looking to where he sits, she chuckles softly to herself and gets comfortable. "What made you choose zis place?" It was more of a curious question than anything.

"I'd heard that it was good," he said. "And I know that there's a good club a few blocks away. So I thought, 'well, maybe she'd like to go someplace nice.'"

She smiles. "Regardless, as said before, eet is about zee company. However, I haf to admit zis place is nice. Has a relaxing feel to it, I sink." As the waitress comes to take their drink order, she waits quietly to see what Ryan orders first, pretending she's looking through the menu.

Ryan looked at the menu, too, for a moment. "Did you want wine with dinner?" he asked idly.

She looks up over the menu back at him, studying him. "No, eet was not." Another pause before she continues. "As much as I haf had wine in my life, I am getting raser sick off it, to be honest. So...zee answer would be no, I suppose."

"Eet was, most definitely." She nods with a grin before ordering a hot tea. The waitress at this point was probably rolling her eyes a bit as she walked away from listening to their conversation. Silly kids. Veronica pulls the napkin that has wrapped utensils and smooths the napkin over her leg before fixing the silverware. She was doing this all out of habit. "Zee last time I went out to a place like zis was when I was still zee model child to my parents. Eet is nostalgic in a way, mais much more relaxing."

Ryan smiled at that. "Well, the only person I'm worried about being pleased tonight is you. So... relaxing is good." He did have questions about her family... but his own curiosity wasn't a reason to pick at scars when they were having a good time.

Ryan placed his order, which seemed pretty mid range on the price, since he was picking something that was date-friendly instead of picking for price. He glanced over at her, smiling a bit. "Need a few minutes still?"

Looking between the two selections she had in mind, she shakes her head. "Non, just had to figure out if I felt like salad or oserwise." Placing her order, it seems like salad is not on her mind today! Chicken seems to sound good to her. She hands the menu to the waitress. "So what club are we going to? You have been zere before?"

He nodded. "Little bit of a flashy place. We all found it when we came to England last year, and they've always been very... friendly to our type. So I like to go back there, feels comfortable."

"Off course I did not sink zat. But you can not blame me for being a bit worried about such sings. Based on how people in France reacted, not knowing what to expect is a bit nerve wracking. Forgive me." She says quite honestly.

Ryan smiled a little more reassuringly at her. "I'm not going to take any risks like that with you. I'll make sure everything is all right, I promise," he said. He almost reached across the table to squeeze her wrist, noted her lack of sleeves, and reached for his drink instead.

Damn the timing. Still, Ryan smiled. "Can't let it get cold," he agreed. And, of course, there was the fact that he was hungry. So he started eating too, giving any onlookers a brief respite from adorable conversation. But he did, finally, ask, "So what did you want to say?"

She takes her time to cut the chicken into perfect bite sized pieces. The entire time, she is extremely precise about the way she is going about the meal. Again, this is all habit. "Hm? Oh, I..." She looks to be thinking. "I do not remember." She laughs a bit. "I am sorry. Get food in my mind and I suppose eet is all gone from zere." She jokes.
