I1: Into Action Is Their Cry

[Kara Vanderbilt]

Kara makes a snapping motion with her arms and tries to drive the ends of her ribbons into the ground on each side of the creature's wrists in an attempt to shackle it to the ground.

[Narrator]

Thanks to Kara restraining the creature, Will gets a fairly clear shot at its face.

The only real problem is, the mallet gets stuck quite soundly in the creature's face-hole.

This is an effective means of preventing it from blasting, but by the fizzing noises, some sort of pressure is building.

[Will Stanton]

"Um.....this is a net positive, but..."

[Nick Varkan]

"You're a polymorph! Shift out of it!" Nick advised.

[Will Stanton]

"If I do, this is going to blast out with massive force!"

[Nick Varkan]

"Kyra! Help me force it to look up!"

Nick attempted forcing it to fall backward with a strong telekinetic tug.

[Narrator]

Nick manages to wrestle the creature's head upwards, but a disconcerting cracking noise is spreading along the thing's chest.

[Kara Vanderbilt]

Kara whips one of her ribbons out of the ground and aims to repeat the same trick around the creature's neck.

[Will Stanton]

Shitshitshitshitshitshitshitshitshit

"OK, that's good! Keep it up!"

[Nick Varkan]

"Hurry Will! Before it blows!"

[Narrator]

Kara and Nick are managing to hold the creature still, with its face pointing upwards, but the cracking noise is beginning to become more pronounced, fissures appearing in the creature's chest and down its arms, and light seeping from them.

[Will Stanton]

"Get clear first! Gogogogogogogo!"

[Kara Vanderbilt]

Kara whirls around and bolts for the nearest big ol' dumpster and jumps into it.

[Nick Varkan]

Nick just flew some distance away and made a thumbs up.

[Will Stanton]

With that Will attempted to free his arm--he had been unwilling to let the rest of the team know that, erm, he was rather stuck.

[Narrator]

It takes some effort, and indeed the cracks and the light between them start to get quite ominous. However soon there's a noise like a champagne cork popping and a torrential gout of energy emerges from the creature's face.

Apparently spent, the light in its face flickers and goes out after this blast, and the cracked portions of its chest and shoulders crumble inward.

By all appearances, it's utterly empty inside. It's stopped moving, as well.

[Will Stanton]

Will fell down on his butt next to the thing.

"I...I think we're OK now."

[Kara Vanderbilt]

Kara climbs from the battered trash can and picks garbage off of herself.

"That went alright for a while until it suddenly didn't."

[Will Stanton]

"I should translate that into latin and make it our motto."

[Nick Varkan]

"You forgot to add 'but hey no one died,'" Nick added as he landed next to them.

[Narrator]

The disposal crew is already venturing beyond the barricades to clean up two stone arms, two stone legs, and the pile of rubble that was once almost man-shaped.

[Will Stanton]

"Where's Agent Greaves--we need to find out if they've tracked the source of this yet."

[Narrator]

Agent Greaves is still back behind the barricades, taking notes and occasionally directing some of the other agents.

[Kara Vanderbilt]

"This is way worse than some cockroaches." Kara comments, resisting the urge to kick one of the arms.

[Nick Varkan]

"Hell leeches might still be worse though," Nick shuddered.

[Will Stanton]

"Agent Greaves. Have you had any luck tracking down the source of these incursions?"

[Narrator]

"It's an ongoing process. We may learn more from the creature's remains."

[Will Stanton]

"Fantastic. You have our number."

[Narrator]

"We'll keep you posted. I'm sure you'll do the same if you have a lead."

[Will Stanton]

"We have nothing tangible yet, but you'll be the first to know."
