Fri Sept 26th - Live from Mutant Town

BBC news, wherever people might be watching, cuts into the end of the current programming. Mabel Mane, the little banner at the bottom of the screen identifying her as the BBC's 'Mutant Correspondent', is in the news room. In the top right a small image is shown of a stylized protest sign with a strand of DNA inside a red circle with a red bar across.

"We're here with an early edition of the evening news to bring you a live broadcast. Around fifteen minutes ago a group of human supremacists gathered in the Kia Oval Park in Lambeth. This appears to have been a planned protest as many brought signs and are wearing patches proclaiming 'Human Pride'. After gathering they've begun to march down Kennington Park Road. We now go live to our reporter on the scene in Lambeth. Gary?"

The TV cuts to a shot of Kennington Park Road in Mutant Town. A large group of what must be humans are marching down the street, wielding numerous signs. 'Keep London Pure' a number of them read, 'Mutants = Deviants' is another popular one, a couple showing 'We don't want no (r)evolution' and one person is holding one with the ever popular 'Muties Repent!'

"Thank you Mabel. As you can see, the group who is calling themselves Bright Dawn is well organized and still protesting. The police arrived briefly after the protest started but are staying out of the way, even though this march has not been cleared with city officials. When asked for comment the highest-ranking police officer said that, I quote 'They aren't hurting anybody. I see no reason to break up a peaceful protest.' This is not entirely true as there have been altercations between the protesters and Mutant residents but most aggression appears to have come from the Mutants. Police was quick to intervene and break up the fights and thankfully so far no one with a truly dangerous mutation has lost their temper."

The screen cuts to a split-screen showing Mabel in the studio as well as Gary in Mutant Town.

"Thank you Gary. So you're saying the Mutants were the ones who escalated the situation in each case?"

"Yes Mabel. The protesters claim they are being harassed and their right to express their opinion is being impeded on. The atmosphere is very tense and the situation has been described as a powder keg. The police is prepared to engage the Mutants should they escalate the situation." he says and as if to prove him wrong in the background the protesters can be heard shouting insults at the by-standing Mutants and actively taunting them.
