Police Issue Reminder About Abandoning Vehicles

Maldon -- A new nuisance has cropped up on the major roads around Maldon. Police have reported that the number of abandoned cars on the motorways seems to be on the rise. "The worst has been along the A414, but we've seen an increase along the A12 as well," a spokesperson for the area police departments said. "We'd like to remind the citizens that abandoning a vehicle, regardless of the reason, is a criminal offense that can result in significant fines and even three months in prison. It is the owner's responsibility to remove vehicles from the roadways and have them repaired or disposed of properly."

Police also said they will be contacting the owners of the abandoned vehicles and levying fines as appropriate. While rumors have been circulating that a large number of the owners of the vehicles are missing, police dismissed these as conspiracy theories and say that they've personally spoken with several owners already.
