I13DT - On Clear Ground

Scenes taking place outside of London or Muir, but still on the Islands.

I13DT - On Clear Ground

Postby Narrator » Tue Aug 19, 2014 5:32 pm

As ASHLIE and Captain Britain worked towards the second tree, they would notice that the ground was not free of snow, but was clearer than the area outside the woods. The air was also noticeably warmer, though not unseasonably so.

Ashlie runs a meteorological analysis in comparison to the rest of Essex (at least as much as she can find detailed weather information) while trudging through the woods.

If there was a warm air pocket, it was being masked by something else because it wasn't showing up on the radars for the area.

"This weather appears not to be following natural patterns. It is possible warm air is coming through the instability which suggests a higher degree of dimensional overlap than initially calculated." she informs Cap.

The tree they were making for was a strong oak. It didn't have any leaves still on it, but it gave the impression of being a very vital tree, even though it was winter.

ASHLIE disappeared as she stepped close to the tree.

****
On the other side, ASHLIE found herself in a summer forest. Everything plant was in full summer foliage and the sun was shining down on a forest that was radically different from the one she'd just left.

Ashlie routes her signal through the amulet and starts to reboot her chassis, which might take a little bit. For now it's just kind of standing still.

The stag snuffled and bobbed its head. "Take whatever measures you feel necessary, guardian. If I'd wanted to damage the golem, I had plenty of time to do it before now."

The stag knelt down, which would make it somewhat easier for ASHLIE to climb on his back. "Then you can ride and the guardian may fly." He looked at Cap, "Just stay with me. I would not want to be the one who lost a guardian."

Once ASHLIE was settled, the stag rose and started off deeper into the woods at great speed. He weaved through the trees without needing to slow. As they went, they started hearing strange bird calls coming indistinctly from the trees.

Eventually they approached a large encampment with pavilions in a myriad of colors, all gather around a large central tent. The stag slowed as the sentries approached and challenged them.

"Herne, who are these two?"

"A guardian and her companion. They are here to speak with the Lady."

One of the guards eyed the newcomers closely, then waved them through.

As they approached the central tent, Herne explained, "Since the Lady has been injured, one of our greatest weapons has been denied us and we've started losing. Some expect treachery at any moment to finish things."

"We are at war," Herne responded. He let ASHLIE get down, then moved towards the largest tent. "Wait here while I talk to the Lady."

The red-headed fae princess was sitting on what was best described as a portable throne. Somehow she managed to look regal even with one arm in a sling and bandages from chest to waist. She was attended by two women clad in dresses of leaves, but ASHLIE's sensors would register that there were several individuals in the room that were not visible to the naked eye. A sword rested across Hydref's lap and she rested one hand on it as she regarded the newcomers. "Welcome, guardian. It has been long since we've seen one of you here."
