Haley reached her mind out towards the pounding, to see if she could see who was doing it. Hopefully it was a "who" and not a "what."

"Yeah, how about 'No' on that?"

Brigid lifted two choice pieces of machinery they'd pried from the wall and jammed them at a precise location.

"Guys, they came for us! They're on the other side of the wall!"

She reached out to the friendly minds. We're in here! We're in here!

Haley reached out her hands in front of her as if she were grabbing a hold of the wall from a distance, narrowed her eyes in concentration and pulled, trying to help her roommate along.

Alex took his cue from Brigid... he knew that she probably had a better idea of where to hit, but he could put more power behind it. So, using his power to form his extra metal into vaguely the same shapes she was using, he started pounding along with her.

Wait, what? It can't be that easy. "Who's there?" he asked Haley, moving over to the dead body to look at what cybernetics it had. Something's off here...

Cal, lacking anything he could do to help, knelt down by the body. He began taking visual records and checking its systems for similarities to his own, additional (useful) technologies... but most of all, he just wanted to figure it out. There was a nagging something about it that gave him the willies.

The body was not someone Cal recognized right away, but the circuitry and equipment seemed analogous to his own--like the next generation version.

The wall collapsed as the Haley, Brigid, and Alex smashed at it. About 50 meters away from that, another wall collapsed, as John and Sara smashed through, a torrent of water coming behind them from the room, filling up behind it.

The water flowed towards the kids, but was stopped by some sort of force barrier before it could reach them--there was still some sort of barricade, this one invisible, between the kids and the X-Team.

The gap wasn't fully empty, though.

On the other side of that barricade, John, Sara, Niles, and Izzy would find themselves facing a hideous beast, a walking collection of fangs and claws.

This forcefield, however, was holding up stronger than the wall beforehand.

The beast--whatever it may be, copyright infringement or not--lunged at John with a powerful swipe of it's claws.

Fuck you.  You want to see what I can do?  Congratulations.  See if your sensors can actually record this, bitch.

The air around Cal began to crackle with electricity... it probably wouldn't keep being very pleasant to be close to him. "Guys," he said through gritted teeth as he focused, "Get behind me. Fast."

Wavelength analysers on, give me a spectral reading on this thing's energy signature.

The rancor shrugged off John's attack, and kicked Sara really, really hard. Like, super hard.

Cal's sensors would note that the electrical force-field was operating on a pseudo-random rotation of frequencies, preventing most people from overloading it.

Most people who had never encountered this before, that is. Most people who hadn't spent time in one of Doctor Tomorrow's fiendish mazes, forced to survive by his wits alone.

Sara goes flying and slams into the wall with a truly impressive *clang* before falling to the ground. It takes her a couple second to shake of the daze and pull herself up again.

Once his classmates were out of the way, Cal threw his hand out at the forcefield and let it have it with everything he had. Lightning coursed into the forcefield, blindingly intense, as he pulsed it in time with the seemingly random frequency pattern. I... am not... staying here... anymore... and you aren't... getting... THEM!

The effort would drain Cal quite notably, tapping into all his reserves, as the world seemed to blur out in his vision...

...but, with a spark and a burst of energy, the barrier shorted itself out, opening up a path to the rescuing X-Team and freedom.

Still an issue of the rancor, but John was attempting to go toe-to-toe with it. The frost breath seemed to be fairly effective, but it shrugged off the follow-up punch, and tried to slam John down into the ground.

The rancor lifted a foot up to try to stomp Sara--but did so much slower than normal, perhaps thanks to some TK assist, allowing Sara to perform a forward stabbing motion, injuring the Rancor.

THEN it slammed it's foot down.

Alex looked at the Rancor, then went to charge at it. This is it... finally something I can do...

Which was when he was rather explicitly reminded that he was shackled to Mariuset, as the sudden jerk sent him falling flat on his face.

Sara has the wind knock out of her as the thing's foot comes down on top of her, cracks forming in her frame. Then she merges into the floor, trying to take the Rancor's foot down with her and shackle it in place.

With the forcefield down Nash looked back to the rancor. He then reached for a device on his belt. It looked as if it had been made from a handheld bar-code scanner, but had some other device attached to the top along with the label TM91. He made a few adjustments on the key pad then aimed it at the beasts face.

With a loud crack the device let out an intense flash of light that was directed right towards the monsters eyes.

It's super effective! With a flash, the monster is down and dazed--they could just run past it at this point, most likely.
