I13: Candygram

What looked like something that could be charitably called the front entrance loomed before John, Sara, and Nash. No guards, no cameras--at least, none that could be seen.

"Security measures are inside I assume. Nash, let us take point. You are the squishiest after all."

John then took a deep breath. The edges of his mouth released a cold blue glow and he breathed out a blast to freeze up the door.

"Fake Godzilla ain't got nothin' on me," he smirked. He then took a runners stance and rushed ahead to shoulder through the door.

John put his shoulder through the door--and quickly found there was no ground beneath his feet here, tumbling down into a large pit below!

John cursed loudly as he plummeted. He had not expected to be Wile E Coyote that day.

The pit led to a metal chute, which bent and curved away.

A trap, in other words.

John slipped down the chute before he could answer or be seen.

Better than a hard landing at least.

"Yes, I have some cable if I can find something to attach it to."

Nash used his flashlight to look for just that.

The four reached the bottom of the shaft in varying levels of dignity.

The room they found themselves in was rectangular in shape--roughly 30 feet by 10 feet. Mostly featureless and made of concrete, it did contain a single raised dias, roughly two feet tall, on top of which was a small black box.

Loudspeakers clicked into action.

Thank you for applying to participate in our metahuman testing program. We value all of our applicants greatly, but our positions are mostly filled at this time. We always make exceptions for truly impressive specimens, however. If you would like to continue, please read the instructions.

"We should probably just try to ignore them. I bet they're just trying to mislead us." she says, waving her scanner over the black box.

Nash looked at the walls of the room, seeing if his powers could detect anything behind them.

As soon as the three scanner/powers were activated, however, a loud series of clanks and clunks could be heard.

Immediatley, ports in the walls opened, with acid and poison pouring out of them. A scythe, coated in a green substance which did NOT look healthy, swung down from one corner, headed directly at the pedestal in the middle of the room. Behind them, a ten-foot section of ground erupted into whirling blades, threatening to grind anyone who took a half-step backwards.

"Shit!" Sara lets out and shifts into a more acid-resilient type of rock before raising a small platform out of the concrete right under Nash's feet to keep him out of the pooling acid.

John prayed the green substance wasn't magic darkforce-eating acid as he positioned himself to grab the scythe.

Now raised up on the platform Sara made, Nash takes time to look around, concentrating on the spinning blades. After making a quick judgement he throws a monkey wrench in the works, literally.

John was able to grab the scythe, coating his hands in the slick green substance. He brought it to a full halt.

Nash's monkey wrench caused sparks to fly, as the whriling blades slowed down.

At that point, however, the ceiling above Sara's pedestal started to come down--fast.

The walls where John was holding the scyth similarly started to slam inwards. Think fast!

Nash quickly looked around for someplace that might be considered 'safe'. His first thought was going back the way they came in.

Sara stays where she is and braces for the impact. If she doesn't manage to hold the ceiling up, as she's suspecting, then Plan B is to merge into the concrete.

The "open door" involved shimmying up Nash's rope, which seemed doable...until a gusher of water started pouring down the same metal chute they came down, rapidly filling up the bottom of the room.

Sara, presumably with a little help from her large lizard friend, kept the ceiling from crushing immediately, and with a whine of burning gears and some smoke, the ceiling jammed in it's current position.

"Sara, can you make us a way up or do we need to bash our way through?"

"There's probably metal supports somewhere, but there's gotta be an opening somewhere." she says and starts absorbing concrete to try and find a way out of the room that isn't going back up the chute.

Behind the concrete was a steel panel--though it was significantly thinner than the concrete surrounding it.

A roar came from the distance--not in the direction of the panel, but from one of the other walls.
