I13: Who Builds These Things, Anyway?

[Robert West]

Doctor Tomorrow laughed, spitting up a little blood.

"Knew you didn't have the nerve."

[Ryan Gabriel]

"I never said 'kill', that was you. I want you talking. Beating the hell out of you will do it. Now where are the damned kids."

[Robert West]

"This is true," the good Doctor nodded. "But they kinda lack anything without the threat of death behind it, you know?"

[Stephanie Kaltiera]

"Stop wasting our time or I'll see how well you do science with most of your hands tendons severed." she bluffed--but a werewolf on top of you is pretty convincing.

[Ryan Gabriel]

"Well, I was thinking more that I'd have to use a SHIELD mind probe. And, well, I haven't been trained in them much, so I don't know how much damage I'd do," Ryan said, reaching into his equipment pack to pull a silver disk out.

[Robert West]

"You could tear my mind to ribbons, and you wouldn't find a dang thing. Now, read me my rights and take me away, or let me get back to work."

[Ryan Gabriel]

This doesn't follow... why wouldn't he be making threats right now? Ryan gave Steph a look that... well said that he was starting to actually believe this tool.

[Stephanie Kaltiera]

Steph looked at Rob, then back at Ryan.

"You have any restraints?"

[Ryan Gabriel]

Ryan went into his belt again and came back with some heavy zip ties. If they were good enough for cops, they were good enough for him.

[Will Stanton]

Will groaned, and began picking himself up from across the room.

[Ryan Gabriel]

"You all right over there, Will?" Ryan called, deciding that the courteous thing was to not look while Will got himself under control again.

[Will Stanton]

"Have you punched this jackass in the face yet? If so, then yes."

[Ryan Gabriel]

"First thing I did," Ryan assured him.

[Stephanie Kaltiera]

Steph flipped Rob over roughly, put his hands behind his back and grabbed the zip tie from Ryan, cinching it tightly around his wrists.

She stood up leaving Rob face down on the floor and cracked her neck as she shifted to human form.

"Well he doesn't seem especially willing to talk," she said quietly to Ryan, and Will if he had come closer to them.

"I haven't heard anything from the other team yet--should probably check in with them."

[Ryan Gabriel]

Ryan nodded. "Do it. I'm going to see if I can make sense of... this," he said, gesturing at all of the Doctor's equipment.

[Narrator]

The equipment had a vast range of controls on it--apparently, the interior of the warehouse was somewhat modular, with walls being able to be moved in and out. There also was something labeled as a "gravity manipulator"--combined with other effects, it would disorient, and make the space seem larger than it really was.

Among a shitload of controls that didn't immediatley make sense, there were also security camera feeds--including Sara and John fighting a Rancor, while XI kids looked on in terror/disbelief/etcetra.

Steph had her hand up to her ear to page the other team, but the seemed to have their hands full as she looked over to see the same screen Ryan was looking at.

Her eyes narrowed and she looked down at Rob.

"Would have been much simpler to just answer our questions. What are you doing with our kids?" she hissed kneeling back down uncomfortably on her prisoner.

[Robert West]

"Why on Earth would I tell you lot anything? Much more fun to see you scratching your heads and other various body parts in confusion."

[Ryan Gabriel]

"Don't bother. They'll tell us themselves when we're out of here. Better question is... where the hell did he come from? I thought he was locked in another dimension."

That said, Ryan began looking for systems to shut down. Defenses, the previously mentioned distortion systems, that sort of thing.

[Narrator]

There was a large selection of buttons and switches Ryan could pull, or he could do it the traditional superhero way by ~smashing everything~.

[Ryan Gabriel]

Ryan, figuring a switch could be un-flipped while a panel couldn't be un-smashed, started turning off likely-looking (and non-fatal looking) systems.

[Robert West]

Slowly, the omnipreasent background hum died down as the systems turned off.

"No! Don't flip THAT switch!" Rob shouted, suddenly.

[Ryan Gabriel]

Ryan stopped, then looked at the switch to see what it was labeled.

[Stephanie Kaltiera]

"Not sure if we should listen to him or do the opposite of what he says..."

[Robert West]

The switch wasn't labeled.

"Nah, I'm just fuckin' with ya. Go ahead, pull it, see what I care."

[Ryan Gabriel]

Ryan sighed. "God damn it..." And, of course, he started turning things off again.

[Narrator]

And, eventually, he'd have most of the place shut down.

[Will Stanton]

"Let's get out of here, so we can question doctor asshole here at our leisure."

[Stephanie Kaltiera]

Steph yanked him up by the back of his collar and started to lead him out of the room.

[Ryan Gabriel]

"Have to get our tech team in here, too. That'll probably be the better way of finding out what he was up to," Ryan said, more than happy to not give SHIELD free reign of the facility he'd used their resources to help find.

[Will Stanton]

"I'm sure John, Bear, and the rest will have a field day in here," Will agreed.
