Now Approaching the Savage Land.

Postby Will Stanton » Wed Mar 05, 2014 4:57 pm

The Blackbird streaked over the outer reaches of Antarctica, approaching the hidden Savage Land.

Will was trying to keep himself busy, looking over charts and maps, as they drew ever closer to the Black Air base.

Meanwhile Kay is sitting inside one of the baggage compartments quietly unwrapping a MRE bar. A flashlight is crammed between two bags to keep it from rolling around. Looking over at Brigid she shoots her a slight grin.

On the horizon, the white, frozen wasteland abruptly gave away to a jungle setting, surrounded by volcanoes.

"I'll give them this--if you wanted to hide somewhere, this is high on the list.

I suddenly feel woefully unprepared."

Kay shakes her head and fumbles around in the darkness for a second over where the opening of the compartment is. When she leans back into the light she shows Brigid a smudge of some kind of oil or lubricant on her finger. She brings it up to her nose and makes a disgusted face.

The plane, flying low under radar, set down in a clearing.

From above, it looked like just a weird bump in the landscape--a large rock of some description, perhaps--but from ground level, it was clear it was a cleverly disguised man-made installation of some sort.

"Alright. We have no idea what kind of security they have around here, so be careful."

As they crept up through the underbrush, there didn't seem to be any armed guards or anything of that nature--but there DID seem to be a variety of the Savage Land's "native life" leading up to the doorway--nothing sentient, just some prehistoric carnivores of various descriptions. Nothing "dinosaur"y, so thank heavens for small favors. More dog-like things--Daphoenus and the like.

"This is so bizarre... A paleontologist would have field-day or two here." Sara says, swinging her scanner around to look for signs of more dangerous creatures.

Stephanie shifted into her hybrid form as she walked off the plane and she sniffed the air deeply. There were so many strange scents it was almost overwhelming.

She paused briefly at the bottom of the stairs, sniffing again.

No...it couldn't be. I would have noticed them before she thought to herself, for a second catching whiff of the stowaways.

The exotic smells would certainly prevent Steph from catching any whiff of any security or things like that. It's quite possible, also, that Black Air might not HAVE any external security in such a remote place.

Sara's scanner found plenty of dangerous carnivores in the area. Probably not a great spot to be hanging around.

Steph nodded, using hand signals to point the team down the way with the fewest inquisitive carnivores near it.

There was, in fact, a front door, if that's the way they chose to go in. There were no obvious cameras or other security devices present.

There MUST be another way in and out--if not for people, then just to let air into the building, a window, SOMETHING.

The problem was, these entrances weren't designed for most of them to be able to get IN, and a cursory glance would not reveal an easy way for Kevin, Cecil or Steph to slip in though, say, an exhaust vent.

There were a couple vents, too small to really be accessed, but no VISIBLE cameras or other security devices.

At this point, they almost HAD to be hidden in some fashion.

The door was solid steel, but Kevin's energy was solid...erm...energy. So with a little bit of focus and concentration, he'd be able to cut right through.

Compared to the LAST facility these guys had checked out, this was much, much nicer. Cleaner for one, and never underestimate the value of cleanliness. The floor was marble, with some marble pillars for effect. In the corner on their right-hand side were some very nice couches--real leather, too, or so it appeared from this angle.

Directly in front of them was a small desk--essentially a security console, one would assume, or general reception area. Behind the desk was a big sign with a logo and everything on it--the black sun symbol. On either side of THAT were stairs leading down a half-level, into the rest of the bottom of the facility.

On the far left was a door marked "stairs"--presumably, there were stairs behind that. On the far RIGHT was a door labelled "security".

Right in FRONT of them, behind the desk, was a man dressed in suit and tie. On the desk was an insanely large machine gun.

Firing out of the machine gun were bullets, and a lot of them.
