"The name you are most likely to hear me called is Kliran," she said.

"A pleasure to meet you, Kay," she said, giving a slightly smaller bow. "I..." She tilted her head again, as if listening to something. "We should move. There are meat eaters in the area." Without waiting for a response, she started off down the ridge.

Kliran moved deeper into the foliage, staying ahead of them but always easy to follow, stopping only occasionally to test the air and listen to the sounds. She hauled up short in a clearing when confronted by a feathered dinosaur shorter than any of them, but with a mouth full of sharp teeth. "Turn around... turn around..." She hissed, starting to back up. Behind them, another one emerged and there was rustling in the bushes.

"...turning around looks like it's a no-go," Brigid says, slowly reaching for Kay's stick.

Kay basically thrusts the stick into Brigid's hands as she stumbles past her to stand between her and Kliran.

Kliran growled while at the same time making a clicking noise in her throat, unwinding a wrapping from her left hand. "Great Ones protect us," she muttered as the creatures lunged at the small group. One went for Brigid, trying to get to her lower legs. The one in front of Kliran leaped at her, easily clearing the space between it and the saurian just as she lifted a hand to ward it off. Two more ripped out of the bushes, trying to find a way to get to Kay in the middle.

Brigid is already in motion, gripping the stick with both hands and sweeping it towards the snout of the creature.

Kay is entirely surprised by the two jumping out from the sides, stumbling away from the one she notices and right towards the other one.

Kliran reaches back and grabs the one behind Kay with her unbound hand. The creature's eyes begin to roll back into its head and it starts to go limp. The move costs her her chance to stop the one going for her and it takes it to the ground, breaking her grip on the other creature which staggers around.

Brigid's strike swats the one aside and it dances back, shaking its muzzle vigorously to try and clear the stinging out of its nose. The remaining one pursues Kay, nipping at her to herd her away from the others.

Kay stumbles back and it takes about two steps until she trips over a vine or a root of some sort and she goes down. On the upside, landing on the ground causes her to burst into spikes gain. She's dazed for a moment but manages to find a bit of courage to try and backhand the dinosaur nipping at her across the snout.

Brigid continues to try to fend the creatures off with swift, measured swings of the stick.

The creature Kay swats makes a sound that might be akin to a yelp and backs away, scraping at its snout. The one behind her recovers and nips at her, backing away when it gets to the spikes. Brigid's makes another lunge at her, trying to leap over the stick.

Kliran's makes a strangled, croaking noise. Kliran gradually began to rise, her left hand clamped around the creature's throat.

"Yeah! Back off you!" she shouts at the dinos as she picks herself up from the ground. Noticing the other's hesitation to get too close she takes a courageous step towards it and swipes her own clawed fingernails at it.

Brigid grips the stick at both ends, and tries to bring it sharply upward under the creature's chin.

Brigid's strike catches the creature at the soft spot where its jaw meets the throat. It's momentum carries it forward into her, but it's only the momentum. The creature Kay swipes at takes a slash across the muzzle and back away even faster. The other one decides this prey is more trouble than its worth and bolts back into the bushes.

Kay blinks, then let's out a short celebratory squeal.

"I chased off a dinosaur!"

Kliran tossed hers aside and started rewrapping her hand. The creature's body landed in a lifeless heap with no visible wounds. "You may want to help her. I hear those things can be cursedly heavy."

Brigid crawled out from under the beast, taking in a breath. She looked to their guide.

"...you've got powers."

"I am cursed. Kliran is not my given name. It means 'soul eater' in my native language." She carefully finished winding the binding back around her hand, securing it. She was sporting several claw gashes, but they were slowly closing.

Kay frowns as she tries to follow along. Then she looks up and at the lizard girl. "Do you, like, need some food? We got some rations." she says, digging through her backpack to pull out two emergency ration bars.
