Black Air Mission 1: Great Basin Desert

Postby Narrator » Mon Jun 23, 2014 5:11 pm

The Blackbird soared over Nevada, about 20 miles south of Eureka.

According to the information acquired by Your Friends in the British Government, a small, nondescript building in the middle of the desert was actually some sort of Black Air research base. Trespassers in the area, according to the files, had wandered in and out without any memory of the intervening time--as if they had had their brains wiped by whatever or whoever was there.

A satelite photo of the base was provided. The small building was no larger than an ordinary house--maybe a 500-600 square feet. Surrounding the building was a fence, looking to be electrified and about 2 meters tall, with security guards carrying large assault rifles walking around, dressed in US Military gear.

Officially, there was no military base at that location.

As usual when on the jet, Sara is sitting as far away from any windows as possible.

Nick, by contrast, sat as close to potential action as possible.

((If anyone else wants to join in late, they're more than welcome))

As the jet passed over the base, alarms started blaring--someone was shooting at them!

"Please tell me you can still land somewhere and we don't have to parachute out..." Sara asks the pilot as her fingers dig into the seat.

"If you don't mind approaching on foot where they can see you," the pilot nodded.

"Alright, I'll try to get us down in one piece," he said, veering to the right to avoid a wave of gunfire from the base.

It would be a rough landing, but the bird would come down in one piece.

"Try to see if you can sneak in first, but otherwise, yeah." she says as they walk down the ramp. "Though I guess they know we're here and will be on the lookout."

They were a good mile away from the base where the plane landed; it wouldn't take them TOO long to cover the ground. At least it wasn't obsessively hot.

Because he wasn't an idiot, Nick left his jacket on the plane.

Hiding behind a conveniently placed rock, they'd come across the base, which was apparently on high alert.

There were at least three armed soldiers patrolling on the inside of an electrified fence. From their movements, they appeared to be highly trained, and heavily armed.

"I'm mostly bullet-proof. Just stay out of sight, I'll sneak in under the fence and once I burst out you can swoop in." she says, sinking into the ground.

The guards patrolled regularly--Sara could find a gap in the perimeter, if she so chose, or just smash into action.

She decides to be sneaky and slowly moves through the ground, carefully popping her head out to get a close up look and then she suddenly rises from the ground as a big stone golem to slap one of the guards away.

As soon as the guards focused on Sara, Nick flew up and swooped in. He teek blasted an unlucky guard and shot rocks at another.

The guards opened fire at Sara immediatley, with all three pointing their rifles at Sara and unloading. One was knocked down pretty quickly by Sara's assault, however.

The other two were distracted entirely from Nick's assault, with one falling to the floor from the teep blast. The other ducked behind a locker of some kind to avoid the rocks, and whirled to fire at Nick.

Sara moves backwards a little, leaving behind some of her bulk as a shield to provide momentary cover from the gunfire while she sinks back into the ground.

"Fucking hell," the third man said, continuing his surpressing fire towards Nick, as the first two slowly began regaining their feet.

Nick took cover behind the temporary rock and reached out to shove the rifle barrel towards the ground while also popping out all of their ammo cartridges.

Sara tries to hurry, though moving through the ground isn't exactly a sprint, to make it to the third guy and make the ground punch up under him in the form of a big fist.

Nick's tactic worked, sending bullets scattering across the desert floor!

Sara was slower, but Nick's delay essentially caused enough time for Sara to layeth the smackdown from underground.

The one remaining standing guy made a dash for the building.

The entrance was where the guard was trying to enter! How convenient.

Most of this complex seemed to be some sort of...storage facility. Heavy boxes were stored and numbered, with apparently some sort of log recording time of arrival--they received packages, or something? The boxes ranged in size from jewelry boxes all the way up through massive refrigerator-sized pieces.

There was something else, too--all of these storage boxes were in along the perimeter of the building. There were doors leading into the center, as well, but they were secured. Sara and Nick could probably force them down if they wanted to, or there might be some sort of key.
