Madripoor: The Search

Postby Onyx » Fri Jan 30, 2015 11:25 pm

Onyx was in the back alleys of the city, following up on a lead. Her encounter with the strange woman the other day bothered her a little bit, but she couldn't put her finger on why. It was like some sort of mental itch you can't scratch.

She sighs as the person she was "question" takes off in the opposite direction, blubbering apologies as he stumbled out of the alleyway. Another dead end. She was starting to lose hope.

"That's a sight you don't see everyday. Someone's actually shaking down thugs instead of robbing them?" an amused voice comes from somewhere above.

Onyx frowns and looks up, searching for the source of the voice, "They have more information then money."

"Not sure that one had either." the voice comes from a shape crouched on the edge of the building, looking down into the alley. She's wearing a dark suit with slight purple highlights, a wide domino-mask and is wearing a cape that she has slung around herself. Her posture is alert but not overtly hostile.

"Not every patrol is a success," Onyx admits. "It is a numbers game."

"If you do not mind me asking, are you an assassin? Because I have had a very long day and I do not have the energy to banter with poorly trained assassins."

"If I wanted to hurt you then you'd be hurting already. What kind of assassin banters with their target? Just caught wind that someone is going around asking questions and decided to take a look. For what it's worth, there is a bounty out on someone who looks suspiciously like you."

"That's probably true." she laughs. "Who did you piss off? Black Dragon? The Council?"

"I imagine I have aggravated anyone in Madripoor involved in the slave trade," Onyx says.

"Yeah but that's a lot of different groups and they all tend to hate each other too much to bother. Enemy of my enemy and all." she says, pausing briefly. When she speaks up again her voice has bit less quippy. "Usually when someone goes after the slavers they're either self-destructing or looking for somebody..."

"I am technically unable to self-destruct," Onyx says. "Although it is unclear how much that matters these days."

"The implication is that they'll do it for you." she says before catching on to the possible implications of what Onyx said. "Wait, what do you mean technically unable?"

"Slaves are not allowed to commit suicide," Onyx says simply.
