Once the doctor's done, call the mechanic

"Oh just get out!" Cal snapped.

[Taliyah Malik]

"Another time, Red," Taliyah says, red lights fading away.

Still fuming, Rachel left the cabin.

[Taliyah Malik]

Taliyah sighs, "Sorry about that."

[Calvin Strong]

Cal sighed, deflating some. "Nah, it's okay. I almost said that, too. Well, something pretty damn close to it."

[Taliyah Malik]

Taliyah rubs her cheek, "Be glad you didn't. That girl has a pretty good slap."

[Calvin Strong]

"Yeah, well, right now feeling anything again is good," Cal reluctantly admitted, sitting down and trying, again, to get working on getting his repair systems working.

[Taliyah Malik]

Taliyah drapes herself over his shoulders, "Definitely an improvement, I'll admit."

[Calvin Strong]

Cal didn't stop what he was doing, but (in a marked improvement from when he was a living computer system) did lean into her, sighing appreciatively. "You can say that again," he said.

[Taliyah Malik]

"Don't ever leave like that again, okay?" Taliyah says, "You really scared us."

[Calvin Strong]

"Didn't want to," Cal sighed. "God I didn't want to. Just didn't see any other choices. I couldn't fix the stuff, couldn't tell anyone how to do it, couldn't do anything. And I didn't know how long I could keep myself working with most of my systems offline."

[Taliyah Malik]

"Well, at least it's over."

[Calvin Strong]

"Pretty much. If I could just get everything fixed up it'd feel like it more. It's mostly right, though."

[Taliyah Malik]

"I can spare some parts if you need anything," Taliyah says.

[Calvin Strong]

"Nah, parts aren't the problem, it's just getting it done. And... I kind of hate having engineers work on me. Feels like having a vet work on you instead of a doctor."

[Taliyah Malik]

"I could work on you if you want," Taliyah says, "Could be fun."

[Calvin Strong]

Cal sighed, relaxing a little. "Could you? It'd be nice to not have to be looking at the back of my head to do this all myself."

"I'll do it," Taliyah says, "Repairs are too important to put in the hands of a bubbleheaded whore."

[Calvin Strong]

"Well, I was pretty much figuring that the right one of you would step up," Cal said with a little smile as he held still to let her work.

[Taliyah Malik]

Taliyah nods, getting to work quietly and professionally.

[Calvin Strong]

Cal kept perfectly still. "The autorepair can get a lot of the minor things, it just needs to get fixed itself," he said, calmly to avoid moving. "Specs are available if you link up, if you don't have them already."

[Taliyah Malik]

"Thank you," Taliyah says, linking up with Cal.

[Calvin Strong]

Taliyah would find his autorepair specs to be both incredibly complex and incredibly straightforward, controlling and re-building a supply of nanites that were dispatched to make repairs through his cybernetic systems, functioning much like a biological system's healing would work over time. Fortunately it didn't seem to be damaged, although its connections to his processors were blown out.

Taliyah frowns, "This may take some time. We need to replace the processors."

[Calvin Strong]

Cal gestured to the table. "There... should be some compatable ones I found in that box," he said. "Left one first, I've already copied everything off of it so it can be removed."

Taliyah retrieves what's needed and gets to work.

[Calvin Strong]

The processor came free, though the fact some of the things it was hooked into seemed to be organic might be disconcerting. Cal gasped a little as it came free, but still didn't move.

[Taliyah Malik]

If it bothered Taliyah, she didn't show it. She continued working carefully and quickly until they were all replaced.

"Finished."

[Calvin Strong]

"Ohhhh, thanks," Cal sighed, slumping back a bit. "That... should make it all better, I just have to wait for it to all finish."

"Glad to help," Taliyah says, setting aside a tool.
