"Don't underestimate how much it helps knowing you care and would never really want to hurt her. I've known her longer than you, and trust me when I say that means the world to her."

"Besides, If I thought for even a second that you were going to hurt her, would I be saying this?"

Nailah twists her shoulder out of the way before Sam even says anything but she's too annoyed to notice that, much less listen to Sam.
