A faint blush came to her cheeks as they walked.

"Ooh, that one seems nice but... yeah, too pricey. Hmm... but those over there seem to be really enjoying themselves."

"Hmmm... that one does seem pretty good," he said, smiling slightly as the blush doesn't escape his notice. "All right... step two. Push a little further and feel what the kitchen staff feels like. As long as they don't feel too skeevy, we're in business."

She reached out a little further, and there was another momentary slip but his aid kept it almost unnoticeable.

"Well, then we have a winner," Mike said, holding open the door for her as they approached the place. Sam would sense an instinctive mental shield going around him as they walked in, which he expanded a moment later to encompass her, too.

Samantha did her best to contribute a bit of her own to the shield, though she was plainly unused to the telepathic closeness.

Okay, well this is different... er... can he hear that? I bet he can hear that... well, keep cool here. He's a nice boy...

"Definitely looking like a good choice," she said with a slightly nervous smile, looking around as they were seated.

"Er, don't worry about it!" She smiled sheepishly as she took a seat, studiously perusing the menu.

Mike took a moment to look at the menu himself, letting her have a few minutes to compose herself. "As long as you're sure," he said, letting her have her nervousness without pressing it.

Hm... that looks good. And I think that guy over there had it and liked it, and he looks like he'd know his food...
