Sifting Through The Scrap (Open)

[John Hino]

Jack adjusted his mechanical goggles as he examined a piece of salvage at a stall in Fort Xavier's marketplace.

"Too bent."

He tossed it back unceremoniously and moved on to another piece.

"Too many holes."

And another.

"Too burnt."

And another. A spider crawled out. He... well he ate the spider.

"Good spider."

[Bobby Bowen]

A wandering tough, decked out in a suitably pooch shirt and jacket with rather gaudy brass buttons, make a distasteful grimace at the spider eating.

[John Hino]

The wing-cloaked lizard looked over, the magnification lenses his goggles were set to making his eyes look quite large.

[Bobby Bowen]

"Yes, yes. A truly terrifying sight. shocked, am I."

The look of distaste did not pass.

[John Hino]

He blinked before correcting his vision setting.

"What? Good protein."

[Bobby Bowen]

"So are fingernails. There are some things civilized man does not do."

[John Hino]

"It's a bad habit, I admit," he said with a shrug, "But the animal side of me has its own desires and it is better for those around if I occasionally allow it to express itself."

[Bobby Bowen]

"There's a ledge right outside the gates, friend. That's where the animals generally congregate, if my limited knowledge of this island serves."

The Pirate sniffed and smirked.

[John Hino]

"Yes. You go right ahead. But maybe take a shower first," he smirked, "Even the gulls have standards."

[Bobby Bowen]

"Water, for showering? I may be a civilized man, but I'm not the bleeding governor!"

[John Hino]

"This isn't some impoverished village. This is Fort Xavier, technological marvel and glittering jewel of the free skies!" he said with a dramatic flair.

[Bobby Bowen]

"Free skies. Tell that to the bloody crown," he muttered.

[John Hino]

"One must have an ideal to aspire to."

[Bobby Bowen]

"Or at least an open window to make ones escape."

Smiling, he extended his hand.

"Robert Bowen, good sir."

[John Hino]

He extended a hand at the end of a skinny arm, further breaking the illusion of size. He was still, however, quite tall.

"They call me Dragon Jack. Or just Jack. Or 'hey you don't touch that'," he said, rambling towards the end.

[Bobby Bowen]

"And what ship do you sail with, Dragon Jack?" the gentleman inquired, trying to continue the conversation.

[John Hino]

"The Snarling Wolf. And you?"

[Bobby Bowen]

"The Nathaniel Gray. or, at least until it burst into flame over the Florida Straits, and cratered a new lake into one of the larger Bahamas islands."

[John Hino]

"You have my sympathies my good man. Twas a fine vessel."

[Bobby Bowen]

"Eh, twas a piece of shite, but the reputation kept it floating. Such as it is, I am looking to sign on with a new crew."

[John Hino]

"It's not my place to extend an offer, but perhaps my captain will consider hearing you out."

[Bobby Bowen]

"Well then, please take me to your captain!" Robert replied, grinning.

[John Hino]

"Let's see... where might he be now..." he pondered.

"Aha! I know!" he exclaimed, "Follow me." He began walking.
