Aye Aye Captain

The British Empire never fell. Steam powered technology continued to advance. Zeppelins won out over airplanes. Mutants are considered second-class citizens by the empire and many resort to piracy to survive. These mutant pirates are hunted not only by the military, but also by a zealous religious order known as The Purifiers.

The robot began to rocket upward, but took a hit in the right leg. This dented its armor and sent it on a wild, uncontrolled spin. When it regained control, it fired its eye-beams at the offending cannon and brought both palm-mounted guns to bear.

The gun crew scattered from the cannon as it grew red-hot. Still more scurried as it brought the guns to bear, but there was hope in their eyes as they seemed to look just behind it...

...to the approaching flock.

It fired a swath of bullets at the row of cannons as it sped towards the top of the ship, where the cannons couldn't reach.

The flock sped towards it, and soon there was apparently a woman clinging to its back, struggling to hold on. As shocking as this might be to a human, the metal creature might be more concerned that she was trying to reach the door to its furnace.

Sam managed to find the seam of a hatch, though it wasn't like any furnace door she had ever seen. It had no visible handle, lock, grill, or hinge. One would likely wonder how the Imperials managed to get it open. However one thing was for sure...

...there was no steam or smoke being vented.

Before Morrigan had a chance to pry at the hatch something shot down from the sky and tackled her off the machine with one arm around her waist.

"Bad idea that!"

"Bloody hell, now it's seen me!" She spat at Nailah, breaking apart into the flock again before it swept back down to the deck. Becoming human again, she slipped back into her long coat which waited for her, and called down to the engine room.

"Full steam!"

"Yeah. Also didn't explode in your face like it was about to." she says, setting down on deck next to her.

The machine ceased to give chase once it was convinced its orders were followed and returned to the Bellerophon.
