Issue 1 Downtime

Jennifer sat on one of the air docks, looking down at the water a long way below. She sighed and whittled at a piece of wood with her knife, watching the flakes make their long trip down. Eventually she would lose sight of it and send another one on its way.

"Penny for your thoughts?" Rachel said, sitting down beside her.

"Nothing much. Just missing the water."

"Not a fan of the air?"

"Not really, but it's the safest place to be these days."

"Aye." Rachel said with a nod.

"So what brings you to the docks today? I haven't seen you around in a while."

"Looking for a new ship." Rachel replied "I heard that the Burning Sword is going to dock soon."

"What happened to your old ship?"

"The ship is fine. The first mate and I had a difference of opinion."

"Oh, yeah, that's never good."

"So, I need a new ship."

"I hear the Snarling Wolf is in port and the Black Lotus, but I hear there's some sort of confrontation building between them, so one or the other may not be in port much longer. I can take a look around and see what else is available."

"I'll have to check them out." Rachel said, closing her eyes.

"I don't know much about the Black Lotus, but the Snarling Wolf is in and out of here pretty frequently."

"In right now." Rachel replied "the Captain seems ok."

"He sails with his wife, or so I hear. Of course, he's always telling stories in the taverns and such. He always seems to get an audience."

"I'll think about it." Rachel replied "Who are you sailing with?"

"No one right now. I've been between ships for a while."

"Easier for a pair to settle in on a new ship." Rachel remarked "Safer too."

"Might be worth a shot," Jennifer said, standing and stowing her knife.
