Porcupine shakes it's needles, producing a strange rattling sound and rolls itself into a ball.

Without another word it rolls along the path (if you can even call it that) away from Sam.

Blinking, she started along the path after it.

But the harder Sam tried to catch up the faster it would speed ahead on the light and dark zig-zag pattern on the ground. Which seemed oddly coherent for just being dirt on the ground.

Except there was nothing there. Though Sam could suddenly feel she was being watched as the path behind her grows more substantial and curls up like a snake. Exactly like a snake even.

"And what do you intend to do about thisss?"

"Well I suppose it just figures that I don't really belong anywh-"

Realizing her situation, she moved to jump off the path suddenly.

"You looked like you had more fight in you. Pity..." With a tell-tale rattling sound the giant snake coils around Sam in a tightening loop.

"Look at that, she can move!" Rattlesnake sounds amused as she swipes at Sam with the end of her tail.

Rattlesnake lets out a loud hiss as Sam's fangs sink into the tail. And did said tail seem significantly smaller than just a moment ago? Regardless, the rest of the snake twists and turns and suddenly Sam is faced with a fang-filled maw shooting at her herself.

Acting mostly on instinct, Sam tried to whip the snake about by its tail, hoping to release her jaws to fling it away.

And so she did. And now the snake definitely was much smaller, judging by the crow that swooped down and grabbed the snake as it sailed away, it's body going limb in the crow's claws.

She doesn't have to run far to catch up to the crow that is sitting on a rock, pecking at the snake.

Once she saw that it wasn't fleeing, she shifted back up into her human form.

"You were always there, weren't you?"

"Haven't figured it out yet, have you?" the crow says before shifting and changing until Sam is looking at a mirror-image of herself with pitch-black feathers instead of hair flowing down her back.
