"There are a lot of yanks here then? I know you're one, sorry the speech gives it away."

[Stephanie Kaltiera]

Stephanie exaggerated her Chicago accent, channeling the Superfans comically.

"I am shocked. Shocked, that you can tell I'm from Chicahgo."

She chuckled, "Yeah, there's quite a few of us, especially after the MRA."

[Robyn Delaney]

"Oh, yeah, I would imagine so."

[Stephanie Kaltiera]

"Yeah. I never really have the money to think of flying back, and don't have many...if any... people to visit, but its still frustrating knowing that I really can't go back."

[Robyn Delaney]

"So you said there were high schoolers here?" She made an obvious attempt to change the topic to something only marginally less troubling as she closed up her door in preparation to head out for the promised food.

[Stephanie Kaltiera]

"Indeed there are....I think even the non-feral-shifters can smell the hormones," she chuckled.

"Good kids generally though.. Being a teenager is hard enough without powers."

[Robyn Delaney]

"How are classes handled? Theirs, not ours."

[Stephanie Kaltiera]

"Fairly standard high school curriculum, though since its a bit of a smaller environment it almost feels like a blend of high school and university. The professors here do double duty, college and high school, and then people like me, and my friend Ryan wind up handling power control class for the kids."

[Robyn Delaney]

"Oof. That must be rough. I know I felt sorry for our power tutors at my school."

[Stephanie Kaltiera]

"It's challenging, but really rewarding," she explained, leading them towards the cafeteria.

"And I've even got a feral shifter to look after now, so I'm not just making things up as I go along. Hard to speak with certainty about energy projection when your body just rearranges itself."

[Robyn Delaney]

"I imagine tutoring the more unusual mutations create some unique challenges," she said. "I know I went through a couple of tutors before they found one that could stand up to what I could throw out."

[Stephanie Kaltiera]

"Probably another telepath?" she guessed.

[Robyn Delaney]

"All of them were. The third one didn't have a phobia," she said with a shrug. "It wasn't an especially good school."

[Stephanie Kaltiera]

"Fearless? What happened if you tried on that one?"

[Robyn Delaney]

"Not fearless, just no unreasoning fears I could tap into accidentally. He was very good at guarding his thoughts, almost like he had several minds to put them in. It was kind of creepy really."

[Stephanie Kaltiera]

"I'd imagine that would be a bit unnerving. I can't imagine learning to deal with telepathy. There's just so much...noise, I'm sure. I mean, having enhanced physical senses can be a bit overwhelming sometimes, but I can sort of tune them out if I distract myself enough."

[Robyn Delaney]

"It's probably not as different as you think. Just imagine everyone, unless they're good at guarding it, is talking... constantly. And you can hear all the conversations at once."

[Stephanie Kaltiera]

"I can get that, sometimes. Trying to make things out in the cafeteria can be difficult...kinda hear a little of everything without being able to understand any of it all that well.

[Robyn Delaney]

"Sometimes it's like that, sometimes it's like hearing all the conversations and being able to understand them all at once. That's when things can get out of hand."

[Stephanie Kaltiera]

"Oh my, Ill bet," she said, handing a tray to the new arrival and taking another for herself.

[Robyn Delaney]

"So what food should I avoid here?"

[Stephanie Kaltiera]

"You know....most of it is actually pretty good. Well. Mexican night is something to avoid if you have any idea what real Mexican food tastes like. The spices are just...off. Seeing where your from, you may not notice a difference."

Steph put three full size plates on her tray, and filled all of them.

"It's sad, but food is probably what I miss the most about home," she smirked.

[Robyn Delaney]

"Yeah, not really familiar with Mexican food," she said. "My last school, you had to pay attention to how many times you'd seen the same desert on the line. If nobody took it, they just kept putting it out." She made a face.

[Stephanie Kaltiera]

"Yuck," she made a face, "Nothing like that here, that I've noticed at least. Definitely way better than what they fed me in high school back in the States. "
