"I can help you control the changes," Steph offered. "Just takes some practice, and for you, will probably get easier to do completely voluntarily as the moon wanes."

"Though things kind of get... progressively crazier the closer I get to a real shift."

"I mean it feels good at first, but if I focus on that too much then I'm pretty out of luck."

"You just have to focus on what you want to be. I know it sounds completely stupid and childish, but it totally works for me--just pretend. Imagine that you are exactly as you want to be. When you're shifting now you're doing it, you're just not driving it."

Steph pushed herself to shift until she looked not unlike Brigid.

"I'm just gonna focus on one thing at a time...ears," she said touching her ears, "too pointy. I want my human ears right now. I'm picturing how they look in the mirror...how they feel as my hair brushes against them."

Brigid tries to follow what Steph is saying, even mirroring the motions. For a moment, she seems to be succeeding, and her ears start to shrink back in. Then they stop a good deal short of human and hold there for a tense moment as she tries to steady her breathing.

Alas, it is not to last and they push back out worse than they were before. A series of pops goes through Brigid's joints and up her back in sequence as her clothes pull up comically short on a frame that's just lurched a foot upwards.

She flexes now-clawed hands in frustration, newly sprouted sparse red hair evident on her bared wrists and calves.

"...crap," she mutters.

Steph tried not to smirk at the sight, "it takes practice and a lot of false starts. Do you want to change out of those clothes before they rip?"

"...I probably should, given my track record," she sighs and begins stripping down.

"Ugh," she mutters as she sees the body hair situation. "I guess bikinis are my worst enemy now."

"For what it's worth, it's kinda...different hair. So for me at least, if I shave my legs, shift and then go back, I don't really need to shave again. But yes. If you sort of partially shift you do start getting some extra fuzz everywhere."

"...oh yeah, good idea," Brigid nods, sniffing for a moment before figuring out which room is Steph's and striding in with her clothes under her arm.

She doesn't seem overly bothered otherwise.

"Right," she smiled, nodding. "I've got...water and Dr. Pepper in that mini fridge, I could get something for you from the cafeteria...I've got a few bottles of wine left..."

Steph grinned, pulling out two wine glasses from her shelf and a bottle of wine from under her bed. She busied herself uncorking the bottle with a corkscrew. "Normally I'd start with a white, something sweet for a first taste, but given our taste for rare steak lately, we'll start with a Merlot that would go nice with a steak," she smirked, pouring a healthy glass for Brigid and herself. "Cheers," she toasted.
