September 2 - Well, that didn't take long

[Ryan Gabriel]

It was around lunch time when Ryan and Steph came knocking on Sam's office door. Ryan, at least, was not radiating happy vibes.

[Samantha McManus]

"You both can come in."

[Ryan Gabriel]

Ryan waited until the door was closed to talk. To his credit, he had his temper under check now. "I don't suppose you got the call from Security?"

[Samantha McManus]

"And I'm already planning on having a talk with her. What you tell me now is what determines if I need to descend in a flock of ravens to do it."

[Ryan Gabriel]

"The fact that you have to play goddess to make her listen ought to tell you a lot. We can't keep these kids safe if there's a girl here who thinks she's entitled to walk around armed and draw a sword when something startles her."

[Stephanie Kaltiera]

"Is she really from...elsewhere?"

[Samantha McManus]

"She's the daughter of the Lady of the Lake."

[Ryan Gabriel]

Ryan pinched the bridge of his nose and started counting to ten again.

[Stephanie Kaltiera]

"The one usually associated with Merlin, and Arthur?"

[Ryan Gabriel]

"That being established, I'm going to submit that it doesn't matter."

[Stephanie Kaltiera]

"No disagreement there. While many of the students and faculty here have powers that could be just as deadly as a sword in an accident, myself certainly included, a sword just carries a certain air of...purposeful violence, shall we say. I'm guessing you already had a discussion with her, because I know you, but did she really seem that...unaware of things?"

[Samantha McManus]

"She was to leave it bundled up and not draw it. She's rather cagey about anyone getting their hands on it, and after what she called it I have suspicions as to why."

"As for whether it is necessary for me to approach her in a... divine capacity, that's not a foregone conclusion unless she seemed particularly unwilling to listen."

[Stephanie Kaltiera]

"I didn't recognize the nam...wait. Lady of the Lake...is that...?"

[Ryan Gabriel]

"She can be as cagey as she wants. If she's going to be in the twenty-first century, she still has to play by our rules. She drew it on a sixteen year old in public, we can't really give it back to her without having legal all over us with good cause. I give this two days tops before someone's mentioned this in an e-mail home to their parents. Social media posts have probably already happened. You think no one snapped a picture of this?"

[Samantha McManus]

"Yes, that one."

"I'll deal with this."

[Ryan Gabriel]

"We shouldn't have to come call down a goddess when there's a disturbance. Can you get that cleared up with her, too?" Ryan added, his pissed-offness bleeding through a little more.

[Samantha McManus]

"What I told her was that I expect her to act as any other student. If she's unclear on that, I'll make sure there's no ambiguity."

[Ryan Gabriel]

"Well, the way she was talking, I'm going to pay for the 'indignity' of having the weapon she pulled on a minor confiscated. Or attempted to be, at least."

[Samantha McManus]

"I'll make certain that doesn't happen."

[Ryan Gabriel]

"If she wants to have it out with me as a person, that's fine," Ryan said. "I'll give her whatever honor fight or whatever it is they do that she wants. But we get enough mouthing off from the high school kids. I can't have her disrespecting the school's authority like that in front of them and making them think they can make up an excuse for rules they break."

[Samantha McManus]

"Truth told, she's older than she looks. She's in remedial courses on some subjects, but her placement testing meant she's enrolled at the university, rather than one of your... flock."

"It was a bit of a difficult decision given the oddity of her prior schooling, but I'll make sure she's not undermining you, aye?"

[Ryan Gabriel]

"I can appreciate that she apparently comes from a different world," Ryan said, calmed down a bit by this answer. "But we can't afford to treat her like she's a special case. We're under human law here, not celtic gods. She's going to have to get used to that."
