Sept 5th - Mandatory Ethics

She groans. "A diary? Seriously? That's for 12 year olds..."

[Samantha McManus]

"I've found that physically writing something down often helps you think more on it."

"Also students have usually preferred it to an online format due to privacy concerns."

[Jennifer Newgate]

"Cause no one ever stole a diary from anybody. What do you want me to write down anyway? Tuesday, the soup in the cafeteria sucked. English was okay but Math sucked. Wednesday, my roommate snores and I can hear her dreaming about puppies."

"These are more thought exercises."

"For your first journal prompt, I want you to describe yourself, while avoiding any physical descriptors."

[Jennifer Newgate]

"What does that even mean." she frowns. This was all obviously very stupid to her.

[Samantha McManus]

"It means that identifying yourself by your physical traits only hinders you in dealing with things in a non-physical manner."

[Jennifer Newgate]

Sure thing, Bird Lady.

"So I paint a mental picture with my imaginary brush. Got it."

[Samantha McManus]

"It's a bit basic, but we'll be building on it."

[Jennifer Newgate]

"Oh, wait, I get it. Like building a memory palace?"

[Samantha McManus]

"That's one direction this could ultimately take, aye."

[Jennifer Newgate]

"Okay that's pretty bitching..."

[Samantha McManus]

"So once you've come up with your descriptors, we get to talk about why you chose them, and what associations you have with them."

[Jennifer Newgate]

"Is 'cause they're cool' a good enough reason?"

[Samantha McManus]

"Afraid we're going to have to go deeper than that."

[Jennifer Newgate]

"Fine..." she relents. The promise of a wicked awesome memory palace seems to placate her a bit on how stupid she thinks that exercise sounds.
