"Let's see then... Rigid obstruction and inflexibility and a dark intelligence in the past that caused discord in the past. Clearly Black Air and their misguided loyalty to a cause they claim is loyal to the crown, led by a scientist that caused great upheaval for you in the past. Right now... Innocence in going about business flanked by deception and weak judgement. Clearly your misinterpretation of The Fool. And the future holds failed ambition brought on by a messenger of moral or physical passion and misgivings. This would be where in a proper fake reading I would give you the chance to correlate this yourself to a passion or ambition of yours that I would then suggest is threatened by a message from someone of ill-repute."

"The last card suggests a lack of moral fiber while the Page of Pentacles implies messages and learning. You could argue that anybody you don't have a high opinion of could be meant by the inverted High-Priestess."

"Exactly. That's what you'll get from this when it's just the cards. Vague ideas that the person then fills in with their own hopes and concerns."

"Pretty much, yes. I mean, you lead the X-Men so you're bound to run into someone who might fit this description eventually. That's kind of the problem with just the cards. They're too broad in hteir possible meanings if you don't augment them with actual precognition."

"It's not slight of hand. It's... a back and forth between me and the cards. Maybe I just subconsciously shuffle the deck into the right order to express what my precognition tells me to, but if you ask me it's magic." she smiles mysteriously.

"I suppose I was asking you," Will chuckled. "But, being magic and being a product of your precognitive abilities seems...mutually exclusive."

"Precognition has long been the realm of magic and mysticism. Being triggered by a mutation doesn't seem like it would make much difference in that regard. Calling it precognition is just an attempt by scientists to slap a label on it in order to avoid admitting they don't understand it."

"A lot of ideas and principles are similar to things expressed in Christianity, though they often connect differently. The most central idea in Egyptian mythology is probably the path of the sun across the horizon. A motif of death and rebirth that is found in many harvest and fertility deities and of course the burial practices that assume after death you will rise again in the afterlife."

"It's a very central concept. Life and death are an intrinsic circle that is only reinforced in an area such as the Nile where life depends on the cyclical flooding of the river banks and dangerous predators roam the desert. It's what makes mankind built monuments that withstand the test of time. Creation myths and the afterlife are the two things you will find in every religion. It's part of the nature of the world."

"True, I suppose, but particularly morbid. There's a strain of people who feel that the only important aspect of religion is certainty of what happens after death, and that always seemed a waste to me."

"To be fair, a lot of the idea behind the afterlife is that it's a reward for living a good life, but I see your point. For what it's worth, Sekhmet acts as the arbiter of Ma'at, the goddess of justice in this world. If all the gods cared about was judging people in the afterlife then there'd be no need for that."

"That's how thing are in a pantheon. It's all interconnected. Sekhmet needs Ma'at's guidance in her wrath and her ferociousness helps uphold divine law."
