Sometimes she pokes back.

Brigid had reluctantly made her way to the medical center, where she was presently being prodded by a nurse. By the sour look on her face she was not enjoying herself.

Mary Ann wandered past, being led by one of the other nurses. They put her into the exam area next to Brigid since she didn't seem to be in any sort of immediate distress.

[Brigid Plunder]

"...hey," Brigid said, looking down at the floor.

[Mary Ann London]

"Hey," Mary Ann said, still a little disgruntled after her exchange with Kay. "You alright?"

[Brigid Plunder]

"Yeah. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to do that."

[Mary Ann London]

"Not your fault that Kay has things she doesn't know about. I'm sure we all do. That's why we're here."

[Brigid Plunder]

"Well still, I feel bad that you got hurt."

[Mary Ann London]

Mary Ann tried to look at her back again, just as unsuccessfully as earlier, "Well, at least I know not to give Kay rides in the future."

[Brigid Plunder]

"She'll probably have better control over it. She's used to her body."

[Mary Ann London]

"She'd have to stop seeing it all as a curse first."

[Brigid Plunder]

"She's had it pretty rough. Back home I don't think she got much encouragement."

[Mary Ann London]

"Understandable, but still. Fair warning since you're one of her close friends, she's probably going to get worse. She said something about breaking up with Theresa when we were walking back."

[Brigid Plunder]

"Oh geez. Did she say why?"

[Mary Ann London]

"She said they had a fight, I think. My head's still a little fuzzy."

[Brigid Plunder]

"Great..." She sighed.

"Well, Theresa probably wants to talk to me more than Kay does."

[Mary Ann London]

"Maybe... but do you really want to get in the middle of that?"

[Brigid Plunder]

"They're both my friends. They really only just got together."

[Mary Ann London]

Mary Ann shrugged, which resulted in a wince. "I just know personally I wouldn't want to touch a friend's relationship issues. Few times I've seen it done, it seemed like the end result was everyone getting pissed with the person for 'meddling'."

[Brigid Plunder]

"Well, that's just... great."

[Mary Ann London]

"You're know your friends better than I do. Just warning you."

[Brigid Plunder]

"Yeah, I just... I don't want everyone fighting."

[Mary Ann London]

Mary Ann sighed, "Yeah, I know what you mean."

[Brigid Plunder]

"People really aren't taking this well. I know I'm pretty guilty of it too."

[Mary Ann London]

"It's understandable. It must suck not being in your own body even worse than it sucks to wear somebody else's clothes."

[Brigid Plunder]

"I think one of the things that freaks me out the most is that my voice isn't my voice."

[Mary Ann London]

"Yeah, I can't imagine that."

[Brigid Plunder]

"Are you gonna be okay? I guess the holes are... smaller, now."

[Mary Ann London]

"It's starting to itch and that'll probably drive me crazy... well... crazier, but yeah, I think I'll be okay."

[Brigid Plunder]

"You're not crazy," she said with a faint smile.

[Mary Ann London]

"I'm not sure that the jury's still out on that one, but it's not worth arguing about."
