I12DT: If You Die I'll Kill You

[John Hino]

Clearly distraught, John sat in the infirmary waiting room. His claws dug into the chair. He just couldn't understand what was taking so long. His dad was just stressed, that's all. At least that's what John wanted desperately to be true.

(Open actually)

[Melody Martens]

Melody walked out of her checkup and spotted her teammate gripping his chair into fragments.

"You'd think they'd get something more durable with as many people with claws here," she remarked, trying to read John.

"You okay, John?"

[John Hino]

He shook his head no. "It's... it's my dad. He was... he was here for a surprise visit and he just collapsed and I don't know what to do other than just sit here and I'm so worried it's driving me insane," he said in one long tirade, with an uncharacteristic quiver in his voice.

[Melody Martens]

Melody frowned and sat down a few seats away from John.

"Damn, I'm sorry John...can I get you anything?"

[John Hino]

"You got a time machine?" he sighed, "I knew something was off. I should have made him tell me what was going on."

[Melody Martens]

"John, the doctors here are pretty amazing. Unless...Have the doctors already...given you bad news?" she asked.

[Byrna Cooper]

And, at that moment, Bear entered, quietly taking a seat next to her boyfriend.

Obviously nearly as distraught as he was.

[John Hino]

John's tension eased somewhat when Bear joined him. He gave his girlfriend an 'I'm so glad you're here' look

"They haven't told me anything yet."

[Melody Martens]

"John, stay strong--the doctors here are incredible and you don't know anything yet. Don't go kicking yourself for ANYTHING until you know otherwise," she reassured him, a sympathetic smile on her face.

"Do you need me to get you and Bear anything to make the wait a bit easier? Snack, drink, anything?"

[Byrna Cooper]

Bear was quietly rubbing his arm, unable to say much under the emotional load.

[John Hino]

"I can't even think about food right now," John said even though an entire bag of beef jerky (or just about anything bacon flavored) usually made him feel better.

[Melody Martens]

"You sure?" she smiled lightly, "I think I saw the store had some of that habanero bacon beef jerky you like so much on sale."

[Derek Scott]

About then, Derek came walking out into the waiting room, once again lamenting being the low man on the totem pole who got sent to do these things.

[John Hino]

John shot to his feet. "Is he okay?"

[Derek Scott]

"Yeah, they think so. It looks like he passed out from extreme exhaustion. Sleep deprivation. Has he had problems with that before?"

[Melody Martens]

annnnd that's my cue to get out of here...

Melody smiled at John and Bear, barely acknowledging her ex. "Call me or text me if you need anything guys."

She rose and started towards the door quietly.

[Byrna Cooper]

"Melody.. Thanks. For being here." Bear said, quietly.

[John Hino]

John breathed out a sigh of relief.

Thank you God.

"No. Not that I know of. Does that... explain what he said to me? Does that cause hallucinations?"

[Derek Scott]

"Sleep deprivation? Oh yeah. That can cause all kinds of crazy stuff if you're that exhausted."

[John Hino]

"He seemed terrified by whatever he saw. I've... never seen him afraid before."

[Byrna Cooper]

"We need o find out what happened.." Bear said, upon hearing the cause of Mr. Hino's collapse.

[John Hino]

"Yeah, there has to be a reason he isn't sleeping."

[Byrna Cooper]

"You should talk with him, once he can see you.."
