I12DT: Science Me Please

[Sara Stanton]

"What is it? Has it told you where it came from before that? Or did they create it?"

[Narrator]

Created? No-yes.

Sadness.

Not-me? Creator-me?

Cages. Separation. Loneliness.

[Nick Varkan]

"You're the child of another creature like you?" Nick asked it.

[Narrator]

Yes!

Happiness. The creature was positively joyful about being understood.

[Nick Varkan]

"It said yes," Nick shared.

"And was it created there?" he asked.

[Narrator]

Ignorance. The mental equivalent of a shrug.

[Nick Varkan]

"Okay it has no idea."

[Sara Stanton]

"Okay, well, what does it want? Does it need food? Protection?"

[Narrator]

Hunger. An image of the creature attaching itself to Nick. Growing. Healing.

[Nick Varkan]

"Hungry huh? What... do you eat?" Nick asked a little uneasily.

[Will Stanton]

Will frowned. "The kept this guy caged up? And...experimented on it?"

"That's....no."

[Narrator]

Frustration. It seemed like the creature didn't have the words to explain things yet.

Luckily, it seemed to have calmed down enough for Sara to get some samples.

[Sara Stanton]

"This might sting just a tiny bit but don't worry, we won't do anything worse to you." she says as she snags a sample from the creature.

[Narrator]

The creature rustles a bit, but doesn't struggle as Sara takes a sample.

It wouldn't take long to get some basic information from the sample. It was an organic being composed of what appeared to be cells of liquified darkforce energy. The cells were extremely sensitive to energy, absorbing most sources except electrical energy for some reason.

The most fascinating reaction was what happened when it was exposed to psionic energy. The cells seemed to become more complex and organized the more it was fed.

[Will Stanton]

"Darkforce, huh? That's not...y'know, necessarily evil, right?"

[Sara Stanton]

"Who knows. But apparently it feeds off of psionic energy. Do you feel any dumber than yesterday, Nick?"

[Nick Varkan]

"I'm not a teep, remember? Only psionics I have are telekinetic kind. And isn't Hino's armor technically darkforce?"

[Will Stanton]

"It is," Will confirmed. "I've never heard of it being quite this..sentient before."

[Narrator]

Apologetic. The sun rises and sets several times. Strength. Independence.

[Nick Varkan]

"It says it won't need me after a few days."

[Narrator]

A tentacle from the creature pokes will. Curiosity.

[Will Stanton]

"Zwuh?"

[Nick Varkan]

"Weird isn't he?" Nick smirked.

[Narrator]

Other-me? the creature asks, hesitantly poking at Will.

Obviously, the symbiotic goo creature had some boundary issues.

[Nick Varkan]

"Nah, I don't think he's related to you. Just also made of goo."

[Will Stanton]

Will responded by poking another tentacle back at the thing.

"Sure seems bright enough."

[Narrator]

One of the creature's tentacles grabs Will's and its cells begin trying to infiltrate Will.

Curiosity.

[Will Stanton]

"Woah there!" Will said, backing off quickly. "Nonononono."

[Narrator]

The creature jerks back, retreating from Will.

Rejection. Confusion.
