All Saints Day

Built with a generous grant from one of the University's benefactors, this clinic serves both the University and the incoming students of the Institute. More severe injuries are stabilized here first, then medevaced to nearby Muir Island.

All Saints Day

Persephone had been essentially dragged back to the infirmary by the crew of Robyn, Nailah, and Sam, almost entirely unresponsive.

Except, that is, when the medics tried to examine her -- when they tried to remove her hand from her mouth, she would kick, fight, and struggle, apparently not fully cognizant of her surroundings.

"Damnit..." Nailah mumbles on the other side of the room before turning to Sam and Robyn. "You said something got into her?"

Robyn poked around at Persephone's surface thoughts while she looked at Sam, waiting for the more experienced telepath to explain.

Both Sam and Robyn's initial probing would reveal, again, a blankness in active thought -- it's as if she wasn't quite there, or was being held back from actively responding.

For her part, Persephone's eyes barely-- justbarely --kept tracking the movement of the Supernatural Three.

"Meet you on the other side then," Robyn said, leaning back against the wall and fading as she projected herself into the Astral. To Sam's senses, it would probably look more like someone simply shuffling psychic energy around. Her avatar materialized not far from whatever connection Persephone's mind might have to the Astral.

Robyn would find herself in the midst of a yellow wood, cold, barren, and empty. Two paths diverged here, leading to doors, apparently hanging out in the middle of the nowhere.

The leftmost door had a ratty, torn old screen on it, barely hanging from its hinges. It had definitely seen better days -- better weeks or months, most likely.

The rightmost door was ornate, laid out in gold and jewels. It looked heavy as hell.

Robyn stood in the fork, regarding both doors. "Something's definitely set up semi-detached if not actually attached," she projected back, hoping that got through to at least Sam, but trying to let Nailah know as well. "Ornate door, gold and jewels. Mean anything to either of you?"

"I'll check the screen first. The other door is closed and I'd rather not try to force it at the moment." Her avatar hefted her walking stick and moved towards the screen door slowly and carefully.

As she got closer, sounds could be heard coming out of the screen doorway...sounds of leather striking against something repeatedly, and some cries.

The scene was not pleasant, though it perhaps was a welcome change of pace from the horrors of the basement.

A man--her father?--was standing in a beatup, broken down kitchen, with dirty dishes piled in and around the sink, the wallpaper peeling off the walls. He was wearing a wife-beater and ripped blue jeans, with his belt in his hand, bringing it down across the back of a young girl, repeatedly. She was whimpering.

THe light was provided by a swinging bare bulb, putting everything into light, and shadow, and light, and shadow...

Robyn wasn't able to give more than vague impressions of this. She moved around, studying the memory carefully to see if there was anything 'off' about it.

The shadows...something clearly WAS off about it. Hard to tell with the bulb swinging like that, but there seemed to be more shadow than would be justified.

Robyn reached up to stop the bulb from swinging, trying to reinforce the light. After a moment, she settled on feeding it with curiosity to see if that would improve things.

Even with just vague impressions Nailah can piece two and two together and she clenches her fists, claw-like nails digging into her palm.

"I was right there. I should have done something." she hisses.

Robyn stopped the bulb.

Despite only one light source, the man had two shadows.

"Even a waste of a human being doesn't have two shadows," she frowned, sheathing her staff in a glowing fairy light as she attempted to shed more light on the shadows.

The second shadow, with more light, seemed to grow larger and larger....and to stop in it's tracks, rotating slowly to turn towards Robyn's avatar.

Robyn brought the staff up to block, the light on it flaring. She said (thought?) something in Shelta that was, well, rather crude, but fit her mood at the moment.

The shadow thing raised it's arms to block the light flaring off of the staff, but it was sent back into the wall behind, dissipating as the light shone over the trailer.

That didn't stop the shadows BEHIND her from reaching out, though...
