I13DT - I'd Hate To Be The Vet

[Allison Rogers]

Allison had managed to remain calm as they flew back to the medical center. But she was apparently making up for it now as one of the nurses scooted out of Allison's room and closed the door behind her abruptly.

[Deirdre Quinn]

Dee returns from locking up her armor again and making statements to the police. She frowns as she sees the staffer.

"...she's not taking this well, is she?"

[Allison Rogers]

"The patient is... agitated," she said, looking at her tablet for a moment. "However, I'm authorized to tell you that she's in no danger. Her healing factor appears to be counteracting the poison. The doctor is just keeping her here until he's positive she's clear." She stepped out of the way of the door, "You're welcome to go in, but it's a 'your own risk' sort of thing."

[Deirdre Quinn]

"...I think she could use a friendly face. I'll call for assistance if it's needed."

She slowly opens the door and slips in, closing it behind.

[Allison Rogers]

Allison was sitting in bed, still shifted, with one of the special IVs that they used for people with healing factors. "This sucks," she said after Dee closed the door.

[Deirdre Quinn]

"Yes, well you can take it out on me instead of the nurses."

[Allison Rogers]

"I think I've already taken out enough on you tonight. Sorry about that, by the way."

[Deirdre Quinn]

"At least you waited until I had the armor on, eh?"

[Allison Rogers]

"Small mercies. I'd hate to have damaged you. The doctor said it was some sort of paralytic they gave me. In any event, it hurt like hell."

[Deirdre Quinn]

"At least now, I know not to get you angry," she smirks faintly, going over to sit down next to the bed.

[Allison Rogers]

"I usually have a pretty good handle on it, but sometimes pain gets in the way." She set one hand on the edge of the bed near Dee. "I'm sorry dinner was ruined. I'd been looking forward to it."

[Deirdre Quinn]

"I'll take a rain check," she says, putting her decidedly smaller hand on top of Allison's.

"I think this is the longest I've seen you fuzzy."

[Allison Rogers]

"I don't usually go out in public like this." Her ears flicked. "My healing factor doesn't work when I'm not like this. They don't know why. So I kind of have to stay this way for now."

[Deirdre Quinn]

"It's alright. It suits you, in a way. I can still see Allison writ across the lioness, eh?"

"So I'll just have to deal with you looking... regal."

[Allison Rogers]

She snorted, "As opposed to the motorcycle bum you've gotten used to. But thank you for the compliment."

[Deirdre Quinn]

She smirks.

"Well no, you're still a sucker-punching miscreant when you're like this. I'm just okay with that."

[Allison Rogers]

"I knew there was another shoe somewhere there." She smiled which would probably disturb most folks. "I'm glad you're okay with that though."

[Deirdre Quinn]

"So how long will you be laid up for?"

[Allison Rogers]

"Doctor said I should burn through what's left of the poison overnight at this rate and they'll let me go in the morning. They just want to make sure I don't do something stupid and shift back."

[Deirdre Quinn]

"I'd be happy to keep you company so you're not climbing the walls."

[Allison Rogers]

"I think I'd like that. Think you could wrangle us some dinner? We didn't really get to have it before someone tried to kill me."

[Deirdre Quinn]

"Certainly could. Our old standby, or in the mood for something different?"

[Allison Rogers]

"Whatever you're up for."

[Deirdre Quinn]

She snorts.

"Dear God, woman. Stop being so accommodating when I'm trying to pamper you."

[Allison Rogers]

"Okay, it has to involve meat and be in semi-large quantity. There. Happy?"

[Deirdre Quinn]

She puts up her hands in surrender.

"If that's what you want, that's what you'll have."

[Allison Rogers]

"Thank you," she said, smiling. She reached out to snag Dee's hand with her free hand, trying to pull her into a one-armed hug. "For everything."

[Deirdre Quinn]

She lets out a sigh, leaning her chin against Allison's shoulder.

"It's no trouble. I'm just glad you're alright, fuzzy-arse."

[Allison Rogers]

"Only because you were there. When I get back up to 100%, we'll look at putting an end to this hitmen thing. Sound good?"

[Deirdre Quinn]

"Before any more dinners are ruined, eh?"

[Allison Rogers]

"Yeah. Had my fill of ruined dinners." And before one of them gets lucky.

[Deirdre Quinn]

"Could stand a few more un-ruined ones, I'd say."

[Allison Rogers]

Allison let Dee go. "Good to know I haven't made too big a fuzzy-arse of myself."

[Deirdre Quinn]

"Eh, everyone's not at their best sometimes."

[Allison Rogers]

"Well, you've seen me on the whole spectrum at this point."

[Deirdre Quinn]

"And I think you've nothing to worry about on that front."

She stands.

"Meat it is, then."

[Allison Rogers]

"I'll be here."

[Deirdre Quinn]

"Won't take long," she smiles over her shoulder as she leaves.

It's a short time later, though admittedly it could seem much longer in a hospital room. Allison's nose catches a meaty smell a good bit before the door opens.

"I took a gamble, but it was one way to consume mass quantities. Hope you like doner."

She steps in with two fairly large, greasy brown paper bags.

[Allison Rogers]

"Never had it, but I'm up for something new."

[Deirdre Quinn]

"It's like gyros. There's a Turkish takeout place in town," she says, pulling a few foil-wrapped bundles from one of the bags and passing them to Allison.
