Mending Things

[Melissa Castro]

Melissa walked out of the medical center, flipping through some paperwork with a look of confusion.

[Gar Easley]

"Hey there, beautiful. Serious face is serious. You okay?" Gar came up to her side and kept pace with her.

[Melissa Castro]

"Well, yes, but no." She said, "My injury's healing up pretty quickly."

[Gar Easley]

"That's the good. What's the bad?"

[Melissa Castro]

"It's been healing up too quickly and they don't know why yet. So I have to have more tests."

[Gar Easley]

"Hmm. Evolution at it's finest." he smiled and leaned down and kissed her on top of the head as they walked. "Always with the knowing of 'why'."

[Melissa Castro]

"They have so many theories and they're devising tests to test each one. I feel like a damn lab rat."

[Gar Easley]

"At least they're likely to do it with a bit of compassion. I could come with and growl at people, be all intimidating if it'll make you feel better."

[Melissa Castro]

"I appreciate the offer," she said, leaning against him. "But I'd rather not complicate matters anymore than they already are."

[Gar Easley]

"Yeah, might mess with the results, techs dropping trays of things and being all tense and weirder then normal. Just let me know when and if you need anything. I know where to find illegal ice cream and contraband cookies."

[Melissa Castro]

"You're such a rogue," she said with a small laugh.

[Gar Easley]

"What can I say, you've got me changing my game up. Unless you want me to drag a full deer to your doorstep with my teeth?" He smiled wide.

[Melissa Castro]

"Not unless it's been properly prepared and grilled."

[Gar Easley]

"See, game changer, but that reminds me. Want to try a picnic before the weather makes me want to hibernate?"

[Melissa Castro]

"I think I'd like that," Melissa said. "Everything going well with your jobs?"

[Gar Easley]

"Can't complain. Making some off campus friends, got numbers and tips tucked into my pockets last weekend. Drunk Brit girls are gropey."

[Melissa Castro]

"Us drunk American girls aren't much different."

[Gar Easley]

"Hmm, I may be rustier then I thought, might have to get you tipsy again." he winked at her.

[Melissa Castro]

"You don't have to get me tipsy," she grinned at him as she pinched him.

[Gar Easley]

"Woop!" he grinned and pulled her close to him, he was purring as he gave her a strong hug. "Definitely different. Most welcome."

[Melissa Castro]

"What's different?" She looked up at him curiously.

[Gar Easley]

"You're welcome to for starters. You're not checking to make sure it's still there and you aren't grabbing as if you fear you'll never get another chance in your life. If I didn't heal so fast, I'd show you my battle wounds."

[Melissa Castro]

"Poor Gar," she said with a laugh. "All the girls must really want you. The ones you don't frighten at the very least."

[Gar Easley]

"I think I'm a curiosity then anything else. You know, big hands, big feet, big..." He winced slightly. "I think the pocket tipping is just an excuse."

[Melissa Castro]

"So I should cancel my plans to pick up money to stuff in your pockets?"

[Gar Easley]

"You don't need excuses and there's a big difference between 'Hey you're cute, here's my number.' and some girl shoving her hand into the deepest section of my pocket while her other hand checks my religion."

[Melissa Castro]

"Such a hard life," Melissa said with a smirk.

[Gar Easley]

"Yeahhh, no." He smiled at her and nuzzled into her hair.

[Melissa Castro]

"So about this picnic..."

[Gar Easley]

"Hmm..Ah, yes. Fire and meat. Tomorrow night, skip dinner and I'll take care of everything."

[Melissa Castro]

"I'll be looking forward to it," she said, reaching up to pull his face down into a kiss.

[Gar Easley]

He wraps his arms around her and returns the kiss happily. "Anything you don't eat?"

[Melissa Castro]

"Not really, no. Not a fan of organ meat, but I doubt I have to worry about that much."

[Gar Easley]

"Right, I'll stick with the familiar."

[Melissa Castro]

"Good call," she said. "See you then?"

[Gar Easley]

"See ya tomorrow night, I'll come get ya." he smiled and gave her another hug and headed off to somewhere else.
