Sept 25th - Resanguination

After carrying her to the infirmary Nailah is quickly taken off of Sam's hands and wheeled into one of the treatment rooms while Dr. Reed barks at a nurse to bring them several bags of IV blood bags. He doesn't chase Sam out of the room, but he does insist on her stepping aside while he hooks Nailah up to the IV and monitors her vitals. After about 20 minutes he seems satisfied and give Sam a nod.

"She's stable and should wake up within the hour. I'm not going to ask how this happened without any wounds or internal bleeding, but can you tell me if we should prepare for more of this? Because then I need to call St. Mary's in Maldon and get more blood bags."

Samantha shakes her head and goes to sit in a chair by the bed.

Nailah is out cold, but after a while of the IV dripping away into her bloodstream her eyelids flutter open and she groggily tries to focus her eyes on Sam.

"Morning..." she mumbles.

"You're in the infirmary."

"I regret asking..." she says, memories slowly coming to her. She rubs her throat and winces when her arm pulls on the IV needle. "My head is killing me. Everything is fuzzy."

"Large portions of you are supposed to be fuzzy," she jokes weakly.

"Honestly though, I was willing to stare down a god for you but I bloody lost it when you collapsed."

Nailah smiles weakly at the joke, not wanting to risk worrying Sam by groaning. "I think it worked... I can't feel myself fading as far as I can see..."

A face appears at the window in the door, but doesn't enter just yet, not wanting to intrude.

"But I didn't and that's the important part." she smiles almost a bit triumphantly before noticing Miranda in the window. She gives her a nod encouraging her to come inside.

Miranda slipped in through the door, closing it behind. She crossed to Nailah's other side opposite Sam. "You're okay. I wasn't sure which future I was going to find."

"I just stepped on the wrong toes during a ritual. Nothing to worry about." she smiles, trying to downplay what happened in order to avoid worrying Miranda.

Miranda got a distant look. "There's a scarab crawling around your shrine in the lighthouse. Should I go catch it?" If she saw the blood, her mind wasn't reacting to it.

"It's bit of a mess in there." she says, then gets a look of sudden realization on her face. "Actually, it'd be great if you could do that. Make sure you don't put it anywhere near the cage with the rat."
