"What?" Miranda said, facing the doors that he'd come out of.

[Will Stanton]

"That's just what I was about to ask you. What the hell was that in there?" he said, practically growling.

[Miranda Weaver]

"A prediction. Possibly wrong, but then again I'm *not* my mother."

[Will Stanton]

"Yeah, you're very much the life of the party, aren't you? 'Oh, have fun you guys, but someone's going to get grievously injured! Sha-bow!'".

[Miranda Weaver]

"Did I say grievously? No, I didn't. Did I even say seriously? Again, no." She was... well... glaring at him. Her tone faded from hot to cold as she spoke. "And while we're on the topic of things I didn't do, I didn't ask to come to your damn Morrigan conflict sacrifice party. Or did you think I wouldn't notice?"

"OK, first of all, you'd better go in to the shop to get your telepathy tinkered with, because you're so far off-base you've been thrown out trying to take second.

Secondly, you're right--you weren't asked to come here today. There were zero obligations to anyone, other than the standard one of 'not being an asshole'."

[Miranda Weaver]

"I'm... not sure what that even means and I don't need my telepathy to know what's going on, even if you're too deluded to admit it to yourself," Miranda said. She moved one foot back in a gesture that could either be a combat stance or preparation to bolt. "I'm just beginning to think I should have gone down with that submarine, because this one hell of a world I'm living in."

Will's eyes narrowed. "You have no right to say that. NO RIGHT."

His fists were shaking, and losing a bit of cohesion, fingers sinking into the fist and new ones emerging, as if he was having trouble remaining focused.

"You can take your God-damned nihilism and get the hell out of here, Miranda."

[Miranda Weaver]

"Planning on it," she said, spinning on her heel and leaving at a brisk walk.

[Will Stanton]

Will swore, and punched the wall, his arm deforming up to his shoulder.

He then turned around and walked back into the party, faking a smile.
