Vertie darted over the the refreshment table, snagged two plastic cups and the cardboard inner tube of some paper towels. "Hick speakers."

Vertie worked quickly and skillfully with the small blade, cutting a slim rectangle in the cardboard then circles into the two cups and fitting them on the two ends of the tube. She fiddled with the phone, queing up some music, then slid it speaker side into the cardboard, hit play and turned it up.

Watching this exchange Kay doesn't look particularly happy. In part because on some level she realizes that she has no good reason to be annoyed, yet she's getting increasingly distraught anyway. After a bit she whirls around and stomps over to the refreshment table.
