Too Close to Hide

[Jennifer Newgate]

Jennifer is much more shielded than that, especially when she feels Murphy open up. It's not so much that she doesn't trust Vertie or Murphy, but she almost instinctively fights the feelings and impressions that aren't her own. Her fear and panic well up again along with old memories. She whines and jumps away from Vertie, tail tucked between her legs as she ducks behind Murphy. Vertie would still feel her emotions though. Loneliness, fear and underneath that memories of much darker things full of depression and desolation that aren't her own but got burned into her memory nonetheless. She might have had some bad experiences with feeling someone else's feelings.

[Brigid Plunder]

"We're all friends here, Jen."

[Vertie Easley]

"You don't have to, it's alright, but now you know. You know the truth, we care, honestly, no hidden agenda. We want to help you, but we can't if you don't let us in. You've got issues, who doesn't? If you want to keep it to yourself that's fine, but you don't have to."

[Jennifer Newgate]

Jennifer tries to say something but all that comes out is a wark. It still manages to carry a surprising amount of meaning. "My problems."

[Vertie Easley]

"Fine, just saying, they don't have to be all yours anymore. That's what a pack is good for, we're stronger, smarter together." She held her hands up.

[Jennifer Newgate]

Jennifer's body posture makes it clear she's not budging on this. Still, she's standing closer to Murphy (and the rest of the group) than usual. She barks again, and again.

"Not that."

"Hurts."

[Vertie Easley]

"Show me, show us. It'll be all you, I promise." She turned her hand palm up, offering it to Jen.

[Jennifer Newgate]

Jennifer raises her hackles and growls.

"Not my thoughts."

"Hurt myself."

Beyond those short bursts her mind is as clamped down as she can manage. Either she can't open up beyond that, doesn't want to or doesn't trust herself not to hurt someone in the process.

[Hannah Murphy]

Murphy nods, "Do whatever you think is right."

"Trust you."

She pats Jennifer's head and straightens up.

"We shouldn't stay long in a large group. Attracts attention."

[Brigid Plunder]

Brigid nods.

"Meet up later?"

[Jennifer Newgate]

Jennifer barks in the affirmative.

[Vertie Easley]

"Do you want me to go too?" She asked Murphy and Jen.

[Jennifer Newgate]

Jennifer looks at Vertie and looks contemplative. For a wolf anyway.

"Sorry."

"Trying to help." she barks.

[Vertie Easley]

"Like I said, you now know we're for real. Don't worry, I promised not to press. We just need to get you less fluffy, now."

[Brigid Plunder]

"She's cute as a wolf though," Brigid chuckles.

[Vertie Easley]

"She is, very beautiful coat color too."

[Jennifer Newgate]

Jennifer decides to pointedly ignore the compliments as a way to not show that she's embarrassed.

"Sneak to my room."

"Everyone in class."

[Brigid Plunder]

"Catch you later, then. No Haley, I promise."
