"It's complicated," Miranda said, "And most of it has to do with my hangups about the future. And they seem kind of tied to how I see myself and that's not always reliable and you want your wings to be reliable." Then she confessed, "I really don't understand it myself sometimes."

Of course that only makes Kay feel like Miranda is withdrawing from her because she said something wrong and she sullenly holds her sausage into the flames.

"I saw you signed up for the X-Team thingie." she says after the silence gets too awkward between them.

"You have to be a little more subtle than that if you want them to actually feel it. Otherwise they know it's foreign because it doesn't mesh with their thoughts. And if you think loud enough when I'm 'listening', I could probably hear your thoughts."
