Cafeteria - Feed the Beast

Up until recently maintained as a museum, the childhood home of the Braddock family has been pressed into service as additional housing and classroom space for the Institute. Additionally, the increased demands have led to the main ballroom being converted into a cafeteria for both the Institute and those University students on a meal plan. Student reactions have been mixed, and reports of paranormal activity are as of yet unsubstantiated.

Murphy nods and leads Vertie away from the cafeteria and towards her room.

"...yeah, that looks like a wolf thing," Brigid says as Vertie and Murphy head off.

Haley let out a snort of laughter, "Nah. I'm not smart enough to make puns on purpose. But like. I dunno. Just seems crazy to me. Reading about it in power control homework, and hearing Steph talk about it? Can you imagine what that must be like, dealing with something like ... I dunno, ....like an untrained puppy in your brain telling you what to do?"

Jennifer finishes paying for her food and is walking towards the table Brigid is sitting at when the smaller Haley comes into view. Her mood instantly sours and she draws on what she'd been practicing with Melissa in the Danger Room and slowly works on blocking out the thoughts of everybody else. It's not perfect and she can't really get a clear reading, but what she does catch is mental images of dogs and wolves in brains, shifters, wild animals. They're talking about the pack. Brigid is talking to Haley about the pack and the small blonde girl laughs. Jennifer's tray clatters to the ground and caught between fight and flight she chooses the later, shouldering her way past the people coming out of the food line behind her and heading for the door. Someone shouts a "Hey!" after her when they see the mess her food has left on the floor but Jennifer doesn't acknowledge them, her head filled with thoughts of Haley butting into the pack the same way she's butted into the secret room.

Brigid tenses, looking up to where the noise is.

"Uhm... I'd better handle that," she says, grabbing the last of her burgers and standing.

"Yeah, just... trust me, you don't want to get into the middle of that," she says to Haley before going after Jen.

Crazy bitch.... she thought to herself as Jen ran off.

"Okay...see ya later Brig," she smiled, waving at her former roommate, "I'll text you about Saturday!"
