At the Oasis

[Connor Marshall]

Connor smiled, letting his hand off the drink. "Yeah, but that's not a bad thing. Maybe there are some yanks we like having around, eh luv?"

[Isabel Galen]

"Yes, but I'm not a goalie." Isabel said, picking up the shot glass.

[Connor Marshall]

"'Course not. You're too tiny, you'd get crushed on the field," he teased good-naturedly, sliding the last shot back and forth idly on the bar.

[Isabel Galen]

"Did I mention its impossible to watch MLS over here? Because it is." Isabel said, hoping for pity.

[Connor Marshall]

"An' if I knew what that meant, I might think you deserved this last shot," he said with a smirk.

[Isabel Galen]

"Major League Soccer." Isabel said "I can't watch my team, and they're doing well this year, and everyone is all 'suck it up and learn to love Man U.' Seriously, fuck Man U. No offense." she added quickly.

[Connor Marshall]

Connor scoffed. "Man U are a bunch of pikers that can barely kick a bloody ball. Sod them and sod all the little buggers who think they're Man U fans and haven't ever set foot in this bloody country." He slid the shot across the bar. "Here, this for being surrounded by a bunch of wankers that don't have any taste in football."

[Isabel Galen]

Isabel downed the shot, swaying a little on her stool. "I think I should get home." she said.

[Connor Marshall]

Connor chuckled. "Had enough then, aye. Want me to call you a cab?"

[Isabel Galen]

"yeah, thanks." Isabel said "don't wanna pass out on thebus."

[Connor Marshall]

Connor frowned, looking her over. "You going to be all right to get home on your own, luv?" he asked as he picked up the phone, picking up his list of cab numbers.

[Isabel Galen]

"I'll be fine. Just need to pee." Isabel said, enunciating very, very clearly as she got off the bar stool and fell on her ass.

[Connor Marshall]

Connor hung up the phone without dialing, hurrying to the other side of the bar. "Right," he said as he picked her up off the floor.

[Isabel Galen]

"I tripped. I'll be fine." Isabel protested.

[Connor Marshall]

"Right, nothin' to do with just doing four shots of good whiskey in about fifteen minutes?" he chuckled, helping her back up. "Here... you just get yourself settled in a booth. I'm closing up, when my ride comes I'll get you back to the school," he said as he helped her stay on her feet on her way to the bathroom (though not making any attempt to follow her in)

"Ok, ok, Mom." Isabel said as she stumbled into the bathroom and then into the booth.

[Connor Marshall]

"So mums help you get drunk like that? Bloody 'ell, guess it reallyis too bad I don't have one," Conor mused as he started closing the bar up.

[Isabel Galen]

Isabel snorted, and ignored him as she sat at the table, brooding.

[Connor Marshall]

Closing apparently didn't take much time (or else Connor had already done most of it), because it was only about ten minutes before another man, built along the same lines as Connor, walked in, hurrying up to the bar. They had a brief arguement in hushed tones before Connor pulled a wad of money out of his wallet and shoved it at the guy. "Now go pull the bloody car up, you tosser," he said. "And not a bleedin' word tonight, you're givin' her a ride, too."

Locking the till, he came around to help Izzy up again. "All right, luv, time to get back and sleep this off."

[Isabel Galen]

"Ok, lets go." Isabel said, trying to walk like she didn't need him to hold her steady.

[Connor Marshall]

Connor, not fooled, walked behind her and kept ready to keep her from falling or running into anything. "That black car pulling up. Jes' don't say anything about his driving on the way or the bugger won't shut up."

[Isabel Galen]

"Not a word, I promise."

[Connor Marshall]

"Perfect," Connor said. He opened the car door, making sure she didn't bang her head as she got in, then climbed in after her.

[Isabel Galen]

Isabel flopped into the seat.

[Connor Marshall]

And the next thing she'd know, she was being carefully shaken by Connor, the car stopped in a familiar parking lot. "Oy, wake up, luv. Time ta head in an' kip up for the night," he said quietly, stopping to slug his friend in the front seat when the boy snickered.

"I'm awake, I'm awake." Isabel said muzzily as she got out of the car.

[Connor Marshall]

"I know, luv, I know," Connor said with a subdued smirk as he climbed out, giving his mate an affectionate 'piss off' before the car pulled out. And, deciding that it was prudent, he walked behind Izzy, making sure she could make it in without support (whether she wanted the support or not).

[Isabel Galen]

The car ride had sobered her up a bit, and Isabel got to her room with no major problems. "Thanks." she said to Connor.

[Connor Marshall]

"No problem, luv. Couldn't leave ya to the mercy of the bloody cab men," he said with a little smile, pretending to tip a cap that he wasn't wearing toward her as he got ready to go.

[Isabel Galen]

"Thanks." Isabel said again as she headed inside.
