[Issue 11] Godzilla Goes Shopping Too

[John Hino]

John had gone to town to shop for a few essentials, and was now carrying a few bags down a sidewalk towards his shiny black sedan.

[Narrator]

John would have the damnedest suspicion that he was being watched.

[John Hino]

He stopped and looked around cautiously.

[Narrator]

Just normal day market sounds, primarily. Nothing too out of the ordin...

...wait. Hadn't he seen that guy with the newspaper somewhere before?

[John Hino]

He tried to place the face.

[Narrator]

Well, the face was hidden behind the newspaper, but he could have sworn he'd seen that guy following all his various shopping excursions today. A fan?

[John Hino]

John didn't believe this was a fan or even press, because he didn't get many of either. He brought up his armor, but only under his clothes.

"Who are you?"

[Narrator]

"I'll give you sixty seconds to get out of a crowded public area," the muffled voice responded, without looking.

[John Hino]

His black armor flowed over the rest of him and dropped his bags. As quickly as he could, he moved towards the edge of town.

[Narrator]

The figure pulled a cowl over his head and started after John, after giving him the minute, pulling out a rather nasty looking axe.

[John Hino]

John looked back.

That can't be a normal axe.

[Narrator]

And, without another word, the man lept at him with a savage growl.

[John Hino]

Though cautious of the strange axe, John spun to face his attacker and grapple for the weapon.

[Narrator]

The swing of the axe turned into a solid shoulder-block as John caught the arm-- much solider than John was expecting.

[John Hino]

John tried to throw his attacker.

[Narrator]

John threw him alright, but he landed on his feet and charged back after him, driving his shoulder into John's back.

[John Hino]

John stumbled forward, but quickly recovered and came around swinging.

[Narrator]

Which was caught, and rather expertly turned into a judo throw of the opponent's own.

"Good. Good!"

[John Hino]

John tucked into a roll as he landed and quickly got back to his feet, though not as swiftly as his attacker had. He faced his foe and sent out an icy blast.

[Narrator]

But his opponent had been ready for that, and had moved away, swinging an open palm at his neck.

[John Hino]

John coughed and the gout sputtered to nothing. He struck back, hard.

[Narrator]

The punch was good, sending John's opponent flying back.

But a small needle, that had been between the guy's fingers, had somehow pierced John's darkforce armor.

[John Hino]

"What?" he blinked, reaching for the needle.

[Narrator]

And that's when things would start getting a little woozy for the big man.

[John Hino]

"...uck..."

John lost consciousness.

[Narrator]

"Don't worry. Round two always goes much easier."
