"Where did you grow up?" Isabel said

"Few youth homes on the edge of London. Got bounced between 'em a lot." He shrugged. "Earliest one I remember was at the edge of town. Barely remember that one, but I remember it."

He shrugged. "It did, yeah. Not as much as you might think. I mean... when you never had a family, ye can't really miss it."
